You say that, but then we have other democratic nations that still decided it was a great idea to elect an ass-hat that just up and changed all the rules. Multiple nations in fact.
Well, I suppose if Obama has been any indication, Presidents these days definitely are just starting to do whatever the hell they want, constitution be damned, so you may have a point there...

We like to think we are protected by an almighty piece of paper, but the fact is that such a paper didn't stop the Civil War, it didn't stop FDR from going two terms over the limit because of popular support, or Japanese Internment, it didn't stop the Patriot Act, or wire-tapping. It won't stop whatever else the Government decides to do that is in our "best interest" regardless of who gets stepped on while getting there.
Well, point of fact, the 2 term limit wasn't actually ratified as an amendment until 1947, after FDR's death - until then, it had just been "tradition" that a president decided not to run for a third term, to follow the example set by George Washington.

All it takes is someone with enough sway to change the rules when it suits them. We have been lucky that we have elected leaders that have only done a heavy job of bending most of the rules, I don't want to have a guy in charge that might be willing to just break them in the interests of his own dramatic ego. Maybe you have more faith in the system, I honestly don't want to take that chance.
It sounds to me more like we need to clean house, and reinforce strict adherence to the Constitution and the separation of powers outlined therein. Washington's so full of shit these days, we should take a page from Hercules' fifth labor and divert the Potomac through Capitol St. and Pennsylvania Ave. And maybe institute term limits there, as well.

To Godwin the thread once again: Hitler and his party were elected by an overwhelming majority, two times in a row. Heck, to stay closer to the modern era, Erdogan and Putin have both been re-elected on several occasions.

There are already plenty of laws in place now that would seem unthinkable to Americans 20 or 30 years ago - including the Patriot Act. A "friendly" congress and the wrong "horrible terrible thing" could have yuuuge impact on future laws. And suddenly, huh, police state.

I've been mocked here in the past for posting lengthy content
*Gulp*

I've made joking comments about it in the past, but I never intended them to be anything but praise and acknowledgment of your effort.

I'm so sorry if you misinterpreted that, or even just lumped my comments in with the posts of actual mockery.

Don't encourage him, or he'll post a list of all his children :D Starts with Nate and ends with Lever, IIRC....

I don't recall specific individuals, and it doesn't matter. Besides which, it forces me to write tighter work which isn't a bad thing.

In reality, I think what may sway some older people is that Hillary is likely to be in the "Devil You Know" category.

For those who didn't think 1993-2000 was that terrible, a third Clinton term would be tolerable at the least, preferable at the most.

It's still a ridiculous comparison. Trump can't actually do that, no president can - by design.
"We'll see..." - Donald Trump, repeatedly, when told in an interview he couldn't build a wall, or deport the mooslims, or "take out the terrorists' families" because the Congress, SCOTUS, and Constitution wouldn't allow it.

Please don't, the Potomac is filthy.

... which is which?
Apparently brilliant Machiavellian person able to survive any investigation with a thirst for world domination and then a buffoon born from a rich family with lots of ties to the mob more worried about (EDIT) appearance of personal wealth and striking back at people that make fun of his appearance and persona.

No one should be spending 60 minutes on a post on here. Every single one of us has better things to do with their time, especially someone with enough kids to write math problems about.

I don't think I spend 60 minutes a day here.

I regularly spend 60 minutes on a post I eventually end up not making.

Trump needs to lay off Wiener. While Trump does not sext (that I know of.) He has done far worse. And the world will likely get a reminder of that now.

Well, let's be honest, Trump has always been fine with illegal immigration. He just pretends to not be, now, because votes.
To be fair, shady businesses like Trump's, who rely on underpaying illegals, are pushing for tougher immigration policy, not because they want less illegal immigrants, but because they want their disposable labor to have fewer options and rights. A legal citizen has certain protections from exploitative employers, an illegal immigrant doesn't. Ah, maybe THAT'S where the common sense deregulation comes into play. If they can treat citizens like serfs, they won't have to hire illegal immigrants.

Even some legal immigrants don't. The H1B visa system in place is being abused by companies to get cheaper tech labor from overseas - mostly India, and the visa is tied to your job. If you quit or get fired, back you go. So you can't go find a better job somewhere else for more money... you're just there to lower facebook's overhead.

If you quit without another H1B job lined up or get fired, back you go. So you can't go find a better job somewhere else for more money if the employers collude, or simply because many employers aren't too keen on dealing with USCIS past eVerify... you're just there to lower facebook's overhead.
FTFY.

And heck, we've all seen how tech companies already collude to screw over domestic labor already, and defeat market competition - especially when it comes to hiring.
