[Movies] MCU: Phase 3 And Beyond

I want Infinity War to be an endless stream of actors making references to other franchises. Freeman and Cumberbatch make Sherlock references. Pratt, Goldblum, and Neill make Jurassic Park references. Freeman, Cumberbatch, and Evangeline Lilly can also make Hobbit references, possibly also including Lee Pace in them. Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton can make Snowpiercer references.

This is a terrible idea but I want it anyway.

EDIT: I just remembered Hugo Weaving, Karl Urban, and Cate Blanchet are in the MCU too. They could have a Middle Earth mini-reunion.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Gwenpool call Dr Strange Benedict.

eventually the final mcu movie will just have every actor and actress alive crammed into a room unable to move just yelling and all wearing stupid costumes for 140 minutes

best director oscar goes to tom hooper

Is that poster homaging a specific album cover or is it just doing a good enough job of grabbing the feel of "album cover" to make me think I've seen the non-existent original somewhere?

Also, loving the tiny Groot peeking out from behind Star Lord.
The Ramones.

This is only 14 reviews, but I'm sure that won't stop the DCEU fanboys from trying to get Rotten Tomatoes shut down again for its elections being rigged.

I don't know a damn thing about Doctor Strange the comic book person and haven't seen one minute of filmed footage of the film yet, I might try to go in hella blind. I'm worried the more I find out, the less I'll wanna see it. I'm mostly drawn by the thespian triumvirate of Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Just got back from Dr. Strange.

It's good. I liked it. The visuals are spectacular, but more importantly, they're imaginative. There are flashy light shows, yes, but they're used in creative ways that are relevant to the plot. The cast are solid. Benedict Cummerbund's got the chops and the gravitas for Strange (though his American accent slips sometimes), Tilda Swinton is imperious as the Ancient One, and all the other supporting cast deliver good performances. Rachel McAdams's character feels rather superfluous, although admittedly she's involved in some rather entertaining scenes.

I also liked the various references. Some of the artifacts and characters from the Dr. Strange comics show up in the background for people in the know to spot, while Strange's insistence on only working on interesting cases is strongly reminiscent of Sherlock.

If I had to pick some deficiencies, I wasn't a fan of how the fight scenes were shot. Oftentimes the camera would be way too close to the action, making everything blurry and hard to follow. Additionally, for some inexplicable reason, some of the quiet dialogue scenes were apparently shot by someone with severe neurological damage in his hands, making the camera shake very distractingly. Finally, the action in the movie was often "kung fu supplemented by magic", rather than the spectacular magical duels I'd imagined Dr. Strange would be involved in, though I guess that's a problem with my expectations rather than the movie that was delivered.

All in all, eight out of ten for me. Good movie, and a worthy entry in the MCU pantheon.

The Inhumans has been reworked to premiere as a TV show on ABC next year.
No surprise there. There's an ongoing feud between Kevin Feige and Ike Perlmutter. Perlmutter was the one who pushed for The Inhumans film. When he got ousted from the the film side of Marvel, it's no surprise they showed up in SHIELD.

Heh, actually I did see Trolls a few days ago. Having no experience with illegal drugs, I imagine it's the kind of movie to watch whilst tripping on LSD.

The entire point of showing the Inhumans in SHIELD was so the public would understand what an Inhuman was before the movie, in case FOX tried to go after them because they couldn't use mutants. Perlmutter got bumped to the TV after the Inhumans stuff started.

Personally, I'm pushing for a Ghost Rider Netflix series right now. He's been the best part of this season of SHIELD.
