[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

What cable stations aren't airing anything during primetime?
TBS only does original programming premeires in a couple of it's primetime slots and usually on the weekend. Most days it's ether Two Broke Girls or Big Bang Theory reruns.

They do, however, have original programming in Conan, People of Earth, American Dad (which jumped networks from Fox), and other stuff.

Ah, I see, I didn't realize Charlie meant reruns didn't count as programming.

Just finished two episodes of Black Mirror season 3. HOLY FUCK.

First episode? I was glued to the television for the whole thing, even though I had a pretty good feeling I knew where it was going. And I was right for the most part. Still great, though.

Second episode? Total mind-fuckery that tops any horror flick I've seen in a long while. It slowly builds, but then hits you and hits you and hits you and hits you with mind fuckery. When the credits finally rolled, I just sat there, mouth gaped. Just....fuuuuuck. I need a break after that one.

"Haters Back Off" is...just as obvious a satire as you would expect it to be. Also from what I can tell, and what I have heard, its pretty much Napoleon Dynamite minus any charm.

i guess that answers my question of who on planet earth would ever watch that obnoxious show
Yup, insomniacs who keep getting in their Netflix recommended queue! The red stars lie, THE RED STARS LIE!

I mean...eight thirty one minute eps of her being legit awful, her mom and uncle enabling her, and the only likable character being treated like shit? Nooooooo thank you. And why the hell does she talk like that? I thought it was an accent or something, but she's the ONLY person in the show to talk like that, which is honestly a missed oppurtunity.

The Good Place

It's watchable, but that's about it. Nothing great. I'm calling it now, though
Eleanor being there isn't a mistake. They're all "bad" people, and it's more of a purgatory. Everything is planned to go the way it has been. Micheal (Ted Danson) may be in on it, but I'm not sure.

For the record, I called that in the pilot. The episodes that have aired so far are providing pretty good evidence of it, too.

congrats on calling the most obvious twist possible in the story, I guess.

this is literally a cast member hyping their show, so grain of salt, but -

How do you feel like the second half changes from the first half of the season?
The reason we’ve kept this show so secretive, like so annoyingly secretive, is for the second half. Because the first half is amazing and it has all the twists and turns every episode and all the cliffhangers, but the second half goes off the rails in a way that I literally couldn’t guess if I was given a thousand guesses. Knowing everything I know about the first half, I still couldn’t guess the second half. The cast knew that the second half was gonna go off the rails, but we didn’t know in what way. When Mike Schur sat us down to tell us, Kristen Bell, who already knew, sat on the other side of the table and filmed us. She took her phone out and filmed us, because she knew the second half and what a big reaction we were going to give Mike when he told us, because it was going to blow our minds.
spoilers up to last week's ep at the link, and in the link name -

also haters back off had less than one half of a red star on my netflix, the lowest predicted rating I've ever seen on anything.

So do you intentionally try to offend people? I'm not sure what your comment is attempting to accomplish.

Haters Back Off

I watched one episode of this. I watched... half an episode of this. I watched most of a half of an episode of this.

I never really *got* Mirandasings. I know she's popular on youtube, but her character just never really appealed to me. It's kind of Peewee Herman stylized idiot character, but more petulant. For a six minute youtube video it's not too bad.

For a full series, it... well. It maybe could work, except the writing is lazy. Zero stars.

Watched the first episode of BBC America's Dirk Gently series today (DVR'd it). And it was really good. Very confusing so far, but that is intentional. Then watched the second episode that aired tonight and a few things were answered, but not nearly enough. Continued being good as well. Really want to see the rest of it. Highly recommended for fans of Douglas Adams' book series.

We're still working our way through the DVD edition of Babylon 5. We usually manage to get through a couple of episodes each session.
Last night's included "The Very Long Night of Londo Mollari."
First aired almost 19 years ago, but still powerful.
