the hero we never asked for but couldnt live without.
Same reason Toriyama keeps drawing characters with bowl-cuts I suppose. And another thing, why do 2/3rds of the characters all have the same stupid "I have a forelock/widow's peak that's so long it's practically a medieval noseguard" hairstyle? That shit looks utterly moronic.
Usopp isn't the weakest member of the Straw Hat pirates... really, I'd give that honor to Sanji or Chopper, both of which rarely win their fights. Really, if anything he's one of the stronger fighters if only for regularly taking out opponents MUCH stronger than he is and clinching the win when it's more than a one on one fight. (Also, Usopp Vs Luffy at Water 7 is probably the best fight in the series, if only for showing how much Usopp can hurt someone if he wants to).So I went back and restarted Hunter x Hunter, since you guys were talking about it. It's refreshing to go back to an anime with an actual coherent plot after all the crap anime I've been watching lately. Also, I forgot how much I hated Killua. Also, I have this tendency to root for the weakest character in the main protagonist group. Krillin, Leorio, Usopp. Come on guys.
Toriyama's bowl cuts are inferior.Same reason Toriyama keeps drawing characters with bowl-cuts I suppose.

Eagerly awaiting Season 2. But will have to find it somewhere other than Nyaa.Finished one punch man. All i can say is fucking amazing!
If memory serves, when season 1 first came out, Daisuki (the production company) streamed it directly off their webpage.Eagerly awaiting Season 2. But will have to find it somewhere other than Nyaa.
I got season 1 off of Usenet. HorribleSubs versions usually ended up there right away. I was just continuing the whine about Nyaa going away.If memory serves, when season 1 first came out, Daisuki (the production company) streamed it directly off their webpage.
That said, I'd be really surprised if it didn't end up in Iptorrents as well. PM me your e-mail address if you need an invite to that.
Loved this series since the manga, its like X-men only it wasn't ruined by all the stupid time-travel nonsense!Alright, I also squeezed in My Hero Academia this weekend. I REALLY REALLY like the main character Deku. Poor guy is born without any powers in a world full of powered up people, he is bullied by a childhood friend, but he still strives to be a great hero. I also enjoy the mentor and big good All Might, who is a great example of the old, with great power comes great responsibility. Its a very inspiring show in how Deku's classmates respect him for the kind of dude he is.
Hunter x Hunter is one of those "give it time" situations. It does indeed start out pretty by the numbers. But it gets better once you're past the test arc. One thing that stands out about this anime is that they take time to make most of the villains sympathetic. Except for Hisoka, who's an off-the-shelf psychopath (and an implied pedophile), the other villains feel justified in their villainy.Based upon recent posts in this thread, I started watching Hunter x Hunter.
I'm now 22 episodes in and I'm still waiting for this to be something other than a by-the-numbers shonen anime.
Makes me feel sorry for Fade having suffered through whatever he'd watched previously that THIS trite pablum was like coming up for air.[DOUBLEPOST=1493675001,1493674862][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, somewhat related -
WHERE IS EVERYBODY RUNNING
I got halfway through the arena arc and my give-a-shit finally ran dry. Maybe I'll pick it back up at some point, I dunno. Maybe if they get it dubbed.Hunter x Hunter is one of those "give it time" situations. It does indeed start out pretty by the numbers. But it gets better once you're past the test arc. Also, I like the nods to western comics. Hisoka is a rhyme for Joker, and he's very similar to Joker. Uvogin is a rhyme for Wolverine, and he's also very similar.
