Former President and Convicted Felon Trump Thread

You wonder why women don't speak up.

Dr. Ford's father won't support her because he's afraid he'd lose his cushy spot at the country club.

Interesting article. Long story short, Michael Lewis, the guy that wrote "Moneyball", goes into detail about more of the behind the scenes stuff involving Trump's campaign leading into the election, and continues to paint the image that Trump had no intention of actually winning.

Many people are saying that the two sides of the issue are "I believe Christine Ford" and "I believe Brett Kavanaugh". That's not true. The opposing viewpoints are:

"I believe in the justice system, and that our nation has the capability and the responsibility to investigate crimes, and to provide confidence in the character of a judge who is a candidate to be appointed to the highest court in the nation."

and

"I do not believe in justice. The intelligence agencies are so corrupt that they cannot be trusted. The truth cannot be known, and the Supreme Court is just a sham."

This isn't a "He said / she said" situation. This is about how justice is conducted in this country.

I can't see how this can end poorly for him. If he doesn't wind up on the Supreme Court, he just goes back to his life of wealth and privilege.

He's only a loser in this if the investigation happens and actually leads to his arrest. And that ain't happening.

God, I miss drinking so much these days.

Honestly? This isn't even about Kavanaugh. This is about getting a pliable SC on the bench by Oct 1st when the next session begins so they have the votes to vote in favor of Trump being allowed to pardon his accomplices for State crimes. THAT is what this all about; Republicans are terrified of being unable to evade justice from State laws they broke.

Looks like that ship just sailed then if they are waiting a week.

Also, of they had done a decent vetting job, or replaced him with a seemingly more "acceptable" choice, none of this would've happened. Stubborn insistence and unwillingness to compromise is their downfall.
Though, to be fair, he'll still get confirmed with a lot of oohs and ahs.

If he's not confirmed by Monday, it's not going to do them a lot of good. The die will be cast for any Trump co-conspirators.

We all know Trump lies, but specific to this issue his previous stance before yesterday was, "Well, it would seem that the FBI really doesn't do that. They've investigated about six times before, and it seems that they don't do that." He also said, "I don't think the FBI really should be involved because they don't wanna be involved. If they wanted to be than I would certainly do that, but as you know they say this is not really their thing,"

He's also denied that he, as president, had the authority to order the FBI to investigate Kavanaugh.

So, where is the evidence that the FBI is free to fully investigate Kavanaugh? Trump offers none, so I can only assume he's lying, just as he's lied about this issue multiple times before.

"It will be limited in scope," Conway said. "It's meant to last one week, I believe beginning last Friday. And it will -- it's not meant to be a fishing expedition."

Why the fuck shouldn't it be a fishing expedition? We're talking about the Supreme Court, and a lifetime appointment. Every candidate for this position should be examined in excruciating detail, especially when there are already credible allegations against them.

Kavanaugh's behavior on the stand, alone, should disqualify him from serving. His lies about his drinking habits, alone, should disqualify him from serving. There is absolutely zero reason that we should not investigate every possible lead to uncover the truth about allegations that he is a serial rapist.

Well cheeto got his NAFTA agreement just in time, and it looks like well nothing really changed of significance. Canada seems to have gotten almost everything it wanted and cheeto got to rebrand the deal to USMCA instead of NAFTA.

But I expect that it will get lost in the shuffle this week, much like the trillion dollar tax cut given to the 1% on Friday by the house.

1) He's an absolutely terrible negotiator. He gives everything away while getting almost nothing in return.
2) The tax cuts passed the house but there's 0 chance it'll pass the Senate. Too many (R)'s are already against it and it would take 60 votes anyway. Still, the fact that the House passed it is head shakingly terrible.

Yes the tax bill also has over 600 items ahead of it to be debated. It's almost like the Senate is doing nothing but appoint judges for the last few months.

But the point was it will be forgotten this week.

Really Dolt45? REALLY? It's a hell of a lot scarier time to be a woman of any age.

EDIT: Women can be victims of something that "never happened", despite having physical evidence that it did. That's been the state of sexual assault for... Well, pretty much, forever. How is that less scary than the very rare cases of men being falsely accused?

Also, Kavanaugh said, under oath, that the first he heard of Deborah Ramirez's allegations was from a New Yorker story published Sept 23, but text message conversations prove that he was contacting classmates trying to find witnesses willing to refute those allegations before that story was published.
