[TV] The General Marvel TV/Streaming Thread

It’s obvious Disney is just ending contracts with Netflix as they come up for renewal. I hope at least some of the quality work from the MCU’s tv lineup will carry over to Disney+.

Without even reading that article I'm going to guess that it was kiboshed at the executive level. There's zero love lost between the TV and movie divisions.
It was the usual excuse that the events of the films and the events of the shows wouldn't line up. It's a weak excuse, but there you go.

Called it on Daredevil. Expect the same once the next seasons of Jessica Jones and Punisher are released. Let's face it, Disney needs content for their own streaming service, it no longer benefits them to let Netflix continue their shows.

I'm debating cancelling my Netflix subscription, but even if I do, I won't be getting Disney's service. I might be digging the ol' Jolly Roger back out of the trunk I packed it away in some 10 or so years ago... because as noted in other threads, the insistence of content distributors on making me pay for 8 different subscriptions to see all the things I want has happened at the same time as the bittorrent community becoming revitalized and easier than ever to use (albeit with the necessary cost of a VPN or a seedbox in the netherlands... still cheaper tho).

B/T the ads now on Netflix and Prime and every dog with a service, it's just turning into back into a form of cable.

Well fuck. Netflix offers so few shows of interest to me, and it seems like they're hell bent on removing about 95% of them.

Kristen Ritter as Jessica Jones is a goddamn gift to this world, and if (when) Jessica Jones gets cancelled, if she is not able to continue on the Disney service, I will flip tables. I will flip so many tables. I'll break into your office and flip your desk. Every fucking table from here to Mexico City gonna get flipped.

I am so far behind on these Marvel shows. I'm still crawling through Luke Cage season 2.

Also, if the second season premieres Jan. 18th we can expect to hear the show is cancelled on Jan 19th.

Based on the previous cancellations they will probably give it a couple weeks before they announce the ax.

Punisher Season 2 so far is great. I'm only on episode 4 and the reviews are mixed so I'm waiting for it to start going down. Of course, that could just be critics being critics.

I just finished the season and enjoyed it a lot. Some issues here and there but on the whole it was exactly what I expected and wanted from a season of Punisher.

I'm in the same boat. I tried watching Jessica Jones Season 2, but it just wasn't pulling me in (especially compared to how I was glued to the screen Season 1). Haven't watched any of Luke Cage Season 2 or Daredevil Season 3. I watched the first season of Punisher, though, and dug that. I find I barely watch anything at all these days, movies or TV shows. I watched the latest season of Doctor Who, but aside from that, I spend my time either playing video games or reading (mostly comics).

Up to episode 11. Don't like it as much as season 1. Still good tho.

I'd be willing to bet that one of the main plots in season 2 was meant for season 3, and they decided to put it all in to allow for a reasonable end if/when the show is cancelled like all the other Netflix/Disney collabs. Everything feels a bit small and rushed, but it works well enough that it stays enjoyable.

Agreed. They could've easily put the Pilgrim story as the main focus and saved the Billy story for season 3. The actors did good with what they were given, but a rushed story is still a rushed story.

I hope the Disney service crashes and burns around their greedy fucking heads and they lose tons of money over it.

If they ever do revive the shows I'll pirate them. I'm never paying for another streaming service. Not Hulu, not Amazon, and certainly not fucking Disney.

I've probably said this before, but I've got paid subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Crunchyroll. If what I want isn't on one of those three, I feel like I've done my due diligence and am in the clear hoist the Jolly Roger.

I really think it depends on what Disney streaming is offering. Not just the properties they have now, but their archives, Touchstone films, ABC shows, ESPN stuff, etc.- I'd honestly probably use it more than Hulu and Prime combined. Hell, most of the time I forget we even have Hulu. Plus, some of the original stuff they've already announced has my curiosity.
