Former President and Convicted Felon Trump Thread

Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’

“The Atlantic” said:
When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true.

Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.
The Atlantic said:
Trump has been, for the duration of his presidency, fixated on staging military parades, but only of a certain sort. In a 2018 White House planning meeting for such an event, Trump asked his staff not to include wounded veterans, on grounds that spectators would feel uncomfortable in the presence of amputees. “Nobody wants to see that,” he said.

Trump's ghost tweeter is frantically issuing denials tonight (you know it's not cheeto himself because proper grammar and coherent sentences.)

The twittersphere responds with his old tweets and video of him saying exactly that.

News outlets continue having trouble saying the word "lied".

The justice department admitted that Barr lied in an interview with CNN yesterday.

In journalism there is a reason for this. Lied implies intent to mislead, which they can't prove as he could simply say he was mistaken. We all know this is obviously false but proving intent is really hard and trying to do so opens you up to libel claims

Yeah, well respected journalists like Dan Rather and Soledad O'Brien have been calling for mainstream media to call out statements like these as lies for a while. Journalism has a responsibility to report the truth, period.

Also, Trump calls his critics liars all the time, but he never gets hit with a libel suit. So I'm calling bullshit on the idea that libel suits is what is holding anyone back.

I mean, it is, but that’s because Trump can basically file all the SLAPPs he wants for free. And because it’s in his own best interest to do so (he will claim the reason they dropped the suit against him is because “they had no case” and “they knew they couldn’t win”), they know that the odds are high because he (or his team) are just slavering for the chance to do so in order to generate legitimacy.

But when he does it, it’s “just hyperbole,” and he’ll SLAPP down anyone who says otherwise.

Trump and his loyalists are dissolving Stars&Stripes, after they called out Trump for calling dead soldiers losers and suckers.

Truth is more important than money. All the money these news organizations have won't mean shit in a fascist dictatorship. There is something at stake here, and it is very very important.

His decision predates this latest bombshell and is based upon the polling that more troops like Biden. Needs to control the narrative to the troops before coup day.

This is a very important example of how Fox News pushes propaganda:

TL;DR Fox News loudly and repeatedly denied the truth that Trump privately disparaged US troops, then let one scapegoat accurately report the story, and promptly proceeded to return to denial. Doing this allows mainstream news to say "AP, Reuters, and even Fox News have confirmed the obvious, that Trump likes to insult everyone", and thus Fox News gets to have the illusion of being sane to people who don't follow the news, while they still get to be heavy handed with their propaganda and continue to brainwash their viewers.

At least 4 boats have sunk during a Trump support parade on Lake Travis in Texas. - story from CNN

An on Lake Havasu in Arizona another boat caught fire after being in a Trump parade:

Hmm, either Trump supporters are idiots who don't know how to boat, or God is really trying hard to send them a message about their candidate. Possibly both.

The Trump folks are already calling in an Antifa terrorist attack, despite no evidence of anyone doing... anything to these boats.
From what I'm hearing the cause of these boats sinking is larger boats tear-assing around the lake, not giving a shit about smaller boats in their wake.

So, exercising their freedom to not care about the safety of others. Just like mask-wearing. Got it.
