'So petty': Donald and Melania Trump fired chief usher before leaving White House to spite Bidens

"President Joe Biden was blamed for firing the White House chief usher on his first day on the job, but his predecessor actually did the deed -- apparently to spite the incoming first family.

"Donald and Melania Trump sent White House ushers home early on Inauguration Day in one of their last acts in a tense presidential transition, a well-placed official not associated with the Biden team told the National Journal.

" 'The Trumps sent the butlers home when they left so there would be no one to help the Bidens when they arrived,' the official said. 'So petty.' "

I continue to be baffled at all the people who have doubled down on their support of Trump since Jan 6th, crying about how mean social media and such has been to him. The victim complex is so fucking real.

I mean, it's a known behaviour of cults that when their leader's prediction's*, core tenets, whatever, are proven wrong, believers double down on their beliefs (because admitting they were wrong all along is much harder)

(Particularly noticeable in doomsday cults, when the actual day comes and goes with no doom whatsoever)

You guuuuuys, he was duped! He didn't mean to dress up in a stupid buffalo suit and commit treason, he was tricked into it! Honest!
So wait... is the lawyer actually going to try and argue that his client only committed a crime because he thought he was going to be allowed to get away with it?

"My client had a verbal contract not with the man holding the office, but with the office itself. As such, my client fulfilled his end of the bargain and deserves a pardon from the current sitting president."

So just tie them up in court until you are no longer president and then the precedent is set that they are moot. Neat. So the only people this might affect would be two-term presidents.

This was a unanimous decision, but doesn't preclude future cases against future presidents from happening. They just decided that they weren't going to duke it out this time, while leaving room for it to happen in the future, probably because Trump's going to lose a lot of money in upcoming state cases anyway.

I'm wondering if the judges did some backroom politicking between each other in regards to some other future cases to let this one slide.

I'm wondering who else was there in that room with them.
I mean, a crime is a crime is a crime, so for it to be unanimous practically SCREAMS that there was some kind of deal cut with somebody.

Yeah, that shit isn't going to work anymore. Without Trump dominating the news cycle with horrible shit, he has nowhere to hide.

Honestly, not convicting Trump in the senate is going to help dems more than republicans. They’re just going to have to deal with him nuking the republican primaries until he dies.

When I say he was always like this, I'm referring to 8 years of obstruction under Obama.
Yes, when he had power he doesn't have now. He's leading a minority party still chained to Trumpism and the news has a vaccum of things to report after the glut of crazy from Trump. After all the stupid shit he has pulled, I don't think his hypocrisy will get as much of a pass as it used to.

Media "President Biden! Mitch McConnell..."
Biden "Did he wreck the car?"
Media "No..."
Biden "Is he being a coniving self serving hypocrite and underming the democracy of America?"
Media "YES!!!"
Biden "But the cars okay?"

Mitch being a self serving hypocrite and a cancer on your political system won't get reported much for the same reason the media won't report that water is wet. It's not NEW and EXCITING and it won't let people get good and angry over simple issues.

Look, the last president was a decent sort, who didn't bring along useless freeloaders.
This one? TWO dogs, and talk of a cat. You're aware those are being protected, fed, operated on, even walked by Secret Service! All on YOUR dime! Shameful! Just throwing OUR MONEY around for NOTHING. Profit profit profit, duping the good normal folk, it's all they do.

You joke, but Republicans wanted to investigate if government funds were being misused regarding Socks, the Clinton's cat.
