I guess they are using telnet now. So I decided to do a retro project with my kid and make a telnet BBS I bought and registered a copy of L.O.R.D. and it's still 15 bucks but you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it to work on a 64 bit system and to find out who to contact to get the registration code. I'm excited about this, I hope my kid will enjoy it

haha right, I'm going to try and have him do most of the configuration on the bbs with editing the doors and stuff and see what happens. I was able to rope 2 of his friends in to getting on and playing the games with him once we have it running at least once. It would be awesome if it became popular at his highschool and I had a bunch of people logging in and playing games like back in the 80's/90's

My favorite (non LORD) BBS doors were Usurper, Planets (also by Seth Able Robinson), The Pit, Murder Motel, and in the so-bad-it-was-awesome category, Barneysplat.
I'm putting LORD, Usurper, and Door MUD on it to start and go from there so we'll see. It's a pain registering any of Seth Ables old games. You have to search the internet for a specific person that you can e-mail and talk to him about paying for the registration fee and do it that way. It took me the better part of about 3 or 4 hours just to find the person to talk to. It's minimally up right now, meaning you can connect and make a new user. There aren't any games on it (going to start on that tonight) my webpage isn't configured yet for it, and there's nothing to do but post messages and play Minesweeper but it's there haha. telnet: bbs.pixelgrounds.net or go to pixelgrounds.net/bbs.html on your web browser and it's there

This update is more for me than anything. I figured out lord and got it up and running so hopefully people will be able to get on and play that. The default menu for synchronet is ugly so I still need to edit that. in order to get to lord you have to login then once on the main screen hit X for external programs, then 2 for games then 2 to load LORD but it should work. If anyone wants to try that out I'd be grateful. I've only tried it on my local network, you can either connect via telnet bbs.pixelgrounds.net or just point your browser to pixelgrounds.net/bbs.html and it will load it inside the browser. Thanks if anyone does this for me
ok I got usurper working but it takes an extremely long time to load and I'm not sure why (I mean from pushing the button to play the game until the next screen loads after that it's fine
I haven't had a problem with the web client at all. I can connect through my phone and everything. Weird. I did get usurper working flawlessly so that's good going to work on door mud today

No dice, tried both from my wifi and cellular, both PC and mobile. I can load the bbs.html page, but when the embedded terminal tries to connect to you on port 1123, it times out.
That's so weird, I can connect on PC and mobile no problem. Let me make a new embed going to port 23 and see if that works for you. I also have door MUD up now
@GasBandit try pixelgrounds.net/gasbandit.html and see if that works
OK I had another person with the same problem I updated the embed with different items and it seems to be working now
All the games are up and work great, also have you been to Barak's house in other places?
