Former President and Convicted Felon Trump Thread

Former U.S. President Donald Trump was hit with a sweeping fourth set of criminal charges on Monday...

The sprawling 98-page indictment listed 19 defendants and 41 criminal counts in all. All of the defendants were charged with racketeering, which is used to target members of organized crime groups and carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Among the other defendants were Mark Meadows, Trump's former White House chief of staff, and lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman. (Reuters)

Today from Ken White, an attorney who made a name for himself on Twitter for repeatedly explaining to the muttering masses why nothing is ever the RICO (racketeering and organized conspiracy), so don't ever expect any RICO charges for this or that or what have you....

Also Jeffrey Clark, who until now had nonsensically avoided being charged with anything, but needs to be in jail for what he's done.

Apparently cheeto will deliver a IRREFUTABLE report that COMPLETELY EXONERATES him of all charges next Monday at 11 am at his favorite cemetary.

So question...Some of the articles I read are focusing on how the decision to charge 19 people in this case will make it very hard to schedule it before the elections, because finding a date and time that works for everyone will be impossible - Trump alone has other court cases, his campaign, etc etc.
And.... Why is the court so lenient as to take into consideration what works for the calendar of the defendant? I mean, yes, up to a point, I guess - "on trial in another state" or "in the hospital" and such I can see. But his campaign? If I go to trial for a burglary, I don't get to choose when the trial happens when it's practical with my job and my planned vacation. The court tells me when it'll happen and just make it happen because the rules of law take precedence over most other things.
I understand why he's not awaiting trial in jail (even though his constant riling up of people and attacking the court etc could be seen as a bad thing, and I'd guess he's actually a flight risk if he ever thinks he'd see the inside of a jail cell), but "oh let's see what date works for you, how about next year maybe?" isn't how you should treat potential traitors and anti-democratic agents, surely? RICO is for fighting the mob - would a mob boss get that treatment?

They are considering scheduling around his campaign because approximately 40% of this country falsely believes that all of the charges are a political witch hunt orchestrated by the “Biden Crime Family” to sabotage the only True Good Republican, our lord and savior Donald Trump. If the trial looks like it is only meant to interfere with his presidential campaign, it loses legitimacy in the eyes of almost half the country.

Of course that’s a fool’s errand, because these idiots will never see reality and always think this is a political hit job. But I guess they are trying to appease them anyway?

Because they're part of the class that laws don't normally apply to, so trying to hold them accountable has to be done delicately or else it'll all get shot down, because NO politician, of any political party, is comfortable with setting a precedent that the political class be held accountable to the law as a matter of course.

Man, capitalism really is all powerful...

I would have never imagined it would actually manage to turn Gas into a commie.

GO GO LATE STAGE CAPITALISM!!!!

What can I say, the COVID wealth transfer really ripped the mask off.

That said, this particular position is also in line with pre-2020 libertariGas.

As i've said before, libertarians are just communists that think the world if inherently fair, and everyone will get their needs met according to their ability.

That being said, i don't think you'd use class in your criticism, since that would have implied that you recognize the marxist criticism of capitalism as having any validity.

Thanks.
also, horseshit.
... not your information, but the idea of delay like this.
Maybe I'm wrong, and or drunk right this moment, but the idea and philosophy of "right to a speedy trial" I think should also include the impacted people, in this case the entire non trump partisan world, to see resolution.

my two cents.

I bet it's just to keep the balloon in the air for as long as they can, so to speak.

Can't do the trial in 23 or 24 because it might affect ect the presidential election. Gotta push it to 26 except then it's midterms! This might affect midterms so gotta push it back again. Let's say....28?

Then place him in jail without bail until 28? Okay.

He just cancelled his Monday news conference as expected.
How deep is this conspiracy? What is in this report that he is keeping from us? What does Clinton and Soros have on him? Why won't he come out and tell us the truth? There has to be a reason beyond him being a Charlatan...

Sorry, just trying to work out Fox news for tomorrow..
