Moved my pc to the living room so I could connect to my brothers wifi. And now it works with mine without problems.
Wouldn't that affect also my wifi 2.4? I had no problems connected to that network.

Got a notification on my server friday night that (REDUNDANT POWER SUPPLY 2 FAIL). Well, that's why I have 2 redundant, hot swappable power supplies. But I need to know what to order. So I reach behind it and pop out the failed one...
Only to realize it numbers the power supplies left to right as viewed from the rear. So I "popped out" the good one, and the server immediately has an unplanned shut down.
I then spend an hour getting it back online and reinstalling Plex because that sucker did NOT want to start anymore. Thankfully that's all it took.
New PSU arriving monday >_<

Replacement got here. It is defective too >_< NEW new replacement gets here Thursday.
Boy am I glad I have 2 power supply bays, or the server would have been down all this time.
Official rated minimum power supplied from a single USB1/USB2 port: 500ma (2.5W)
Official rated minimum power supplied from a single USB3 "A" port: 900ma (4.5W)
Official rated minimum power supplied from a single USB3 "C" port: 1500ma (7.5W)
Official rated absolute max supplied by any USB "A" port, regardless of revision: 5A/5000ma (25W)
-This is the maximum power limit the physical "A" port was designed to have to endure at 5VDC. There are some occasional USB "A" ports which run at 12VDC (labeled "USB12V") but they are DUMB because they look the same and people don't check first and then immediately fry their normal USB device when they plug it in.
-USB "C" ports are a little harder to describe, because a standard (dumb, no e-chip) USB-C cable can deliver up to 60W, but that is 3A at 20VDC instead of the normal USB standard of 5VDC (which would be only 15W). High-power cables (those with e-chip) can deliver as much as 100W (5A @ 20VDC) or more (highest rating I know is 240W which is presumably 12A @ 20VDC).
So for anyone else getting any kind of USB expansion hub or card for their computer, if that thing comes with an aux power input connection (a wall wart for hubs, or sockets like the ones on a GPU for internal cards), USE IT.

I dared stop running Idle Champions on my win10 PC for just THREE DAYS while I was out of town and the sonofabitch did a windows update without asking me and installed copilot, the Microsoft AI spyware. Fortunately it is uninstallable.
Back to running Idle Champions forever again so my computer never updates or reboots.

Update: turns out the problem is power. I was trying to use the USB cable that came enclosed with the ARC extractor to run off the TV's USB port, but the darn thing needs a full amp (most TV USB ports only put out half an amp). Fortunately it came with an AC adapter to plug the USB cable into, and..... and now it's putting out reversed stereo. Well, I guess it's good my stereo has RCA aux inputs, I was able to just swap the red and white.
RrrRRRrrrgh having a new computer sure is great, performance of the 2024 model is something like, 15x faster than my 2012 model (this is not hyberbole, by the way--this is from benchmarks), but because I didn't want to do a straight migration, that means I have to migrate everything over by hand and manually place everything where it goes and ensure I don't lose any saved mailboxes or miss any program updates that I couldn't do on the old one and this means going through every single folder one at a time to make sure I'm not forgetting some important preference or half-forgotten data file that got stashed away a decade ago. Carrying over all the pictures, music, documents...it's been a week and I'm only about 60% through everything, if I go by gigabytes.

Man, fuck the Download Queue on the Steam Deck. Decided to install a new game (Balatro), start the download, wander off to make a cup of tea, wander back to see how it's going & it's updating something else. Okay cool, it's installed Balatro & is now just updating other stuff right? Nope, Balatro is at 15% downloaded sitting at the bottom of the queue with half a dozen games ahead of it.
Listen Steam, if you're just installing updates because they're available then you can download them in any order you like I generally won't care, but if *I* tell you to download something then that takes priority & everything else can wait!

If you look at your download screen, you should see two different queues, current and scheduled. If you don't set schedules yourself then steam will try to prioritize the games you play the most and move them to the top of the queue at set intervals. You can go into download settings to change this around, or just pause the other downloads and they should stay off the queue until you unpause
