[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

This Wolverine feels more... hmm... faithful to the comics? Not sure how to describe it, but I feel like he gives off a gruffness that Wolvie didn't really have in the previous films. It's not just the potty mouth either.

Lol "Liefeld's Just Feet"
This may be my favorite joke in the trailer, which up until it's appearance I thought was going to be the song choice. Had to stop the trailer, wait to stop laughing, and then finish it.

EDIT: Also,
poor Ant-Man.

Ehhhh, I don't know. The trailer has the same problem I have with the Deadpool movies: an overreliance on the "fuck crutch." That's a term I learned from a writing teacher where there's an excessive amount of swearing, a desperate attempt to seem clever or edgy.

For movies with some very clever writing, the excessive amount of f-bombs kills it for me. Not because it's swearing itself, because it's excessive and they could do so much better.

I honestly think it would've been funnier if the movie was rated PG-13, but Wade is fully aware of it. So they go to extra lengths to still do the same movie, but working around the censorship put on by "The Mouse."

I had to go back and re-watch to see what you meant by that... and geez... that sucks.
Given they're doing tva stuff, that scene almost definitely takes place in the void, a plane first seen in Loki where all the non-canon events end up once pruned from the timeline. I would guess it to be a reference to Old Man Logan, where part of their road trip involves navigating across the remains of Giant Man.

There's also a broken down 20th century fox logo they're fighting in front of

I liked the Mario movie. It wasn't WALL-E or Into the Spider verse, but fun and tame like the brand.

I think the transformer movie looks fun too. I prefer this tone to the overly serious Bay films for sure. It looks like a transformer movie that I can show to my kids.

Exploding Kittens
(Netflix TV show coming July 2024)

Ehhhhhhhhhhh, I don't know. I enjoy The Oatmeal comics, but this just isn't doing it for me. Others might dig it, though.

Yeah, I'm in. I'm worried it'll be another nostalgia fanwank like the recent Ghostbusters movies, but it looks like everyone is game. Especially Keaton.

There are series I'm genuine surprised when they keep getting sequels. This is one of them. Also the Fast and Furious franchise.
I had to tap out around 8 for my attempts to watch those. There's two legitimately good movies in that entire series and the rest cause brain damage.

I'm not gonna see it anyway, I tried with the first two but won't do it again. However, we're just gonna cast whomever now I guess and ignore existing ties? Cause otherwise the Modo of this universe has made a bizarre career shift.

Do you mean Mordo? And I don't see this as a problem at all, both in-universe as it's established Venom takes place in an alternate universe away from the MCU, and also just meta-movies in general, I think if you want to reuse an actor for a different character you can, and audiences are generally smart enough to figure out what's going on.

Yes Mordo. I don't really care, just an observation.

I absolutely love the first two Venom movies. They're objectively really bad, but the whole experience feels like a waking fever dream and I can't get enough of the sheer weirdness of it.

Excited for this one.

I think that looks fun. And I’ve never seen any of the other ones. I’m trying to figure out how this fits in the spiderverse considering he was in the cutscene for no way home.

They already made the decision to do Venom's origin and development without Spider-man being involved at all, so I wouldn't expect any meaningful connection between the two at this point. Venom's just doing their own thing.

That being said, if the next Spider Man film doesn’t feature the Venom globlette that got left behind in the MCU I’m going to be disappointed.

It won’t, I’m willing to bet, unless the plot of the movie is bouncing through the multiverse, and that seems unlikely. That sting was there just to stop some bitching about “But Venom knows who Peter is, why didn’t he show up because of the botched spell?” Well, here’s where Venom was, getting drunk in a Mexican beach bar and just freaking about about being pulled into another universe.
