That's what I gathered too.

Also, this is only tangentially related to Fallout, I wonder if Jonathan Nolan's thing will always be morally reprehensible evil main characters, because this is two in a row for him. The Ghoul shares A LOT of similarities with The Man in Black.

It started off strong. I especially liked their long tracking shots that show how even one zombie is dangerous. Season 2 was just a relentless slog filled with selfish and unlikeable characters.

Dead Boy Detectives on Netflix. They are from the Sandman universe--Edwin and Charles were introduced in the comics in Sandman: Season of Mists--and there's brief appearances by two of the Endless from the Sandman TV series. Basically a supernatural detective show that comes with complex backstory. It's quirky fun and much lighter in tone than Sandman, but it does get dark in a few places.

Chucky, Season 3

When I heard a TV series based on Chucky was coming, I didn't think it could work. But by God, I've loved this show.

It's also crazy how what started as a basic premise: child's doll possessed by a serial killer, has continued going for DECADES. With a continuing story across 7 in-continuity movies and now 3 seasons of a show.

The show just continually ramps up, and with this season set in the White House, it just gets more nuts from there.

Plus, the kills are gruesomely inventive every time. Sometimes the TV budget CG doesn't live up to the potential idea, but I appreciate the effort.

And the show has been incredibly progressive, with two male leads in a romance, and two key non-binary twin characters played by the same non-binary performer.

I don't know if Season 3 will be its last by I'll genuinely miss the show if it is. Especially with that wallop of a cliffhanger.

Holy shit, why aren't more people talking about this show? It's amazing. Some of the most fascinating and inventive visuals I've ever seen!

I think i posted a trailer for it ages ago, but I suddenly remembered it.

I haven't watched that video, since Nick's recommendation is enough for me. I just finished the first episode, and this is some weird shit, but very intriguing.

I just finished the series last week. (Got busy with other stuff, so I fell off my binge).

It's bloody fantastic from beginning to end. Literally anyone who enjoys sci-fi and/or great animation should be watching it.

Had a friend over, and decided to show her The Lost Room. It was a Sci-Fi channel original miniseries from 2006. It still holds up pretty good today, and she was hooked nearly immediately.

It's hard to talk about without giving too much away. So much of the show's magic is the sense of discovery as you learn about what's going on at the same time as Detective Miller in the story. But it's a pretty good show.

Did anyone else find this season of Doctor Who to be a major letdown? Space Babies. Evil cosplayers. Gods. “Rope science”. Just some really over silly plot ideas that lead to a very weak season. We even had an episode where the Doctor uncharacteristically falls in love at first sight.
I also wish I liked Gatwa and Gibson more, but I don’t find them very intriguing or fun.

I love Gatwa as an actor, but he's been given absolute dogshit to work with for episodes. Not just the big concepts, but the actual dialogue has been horrible. It's wordy and rambling and most of the characters are just cardboard cutouts who don't really interact with each other.

"I don't know how to walk in a straight line without a voice telling me to." Holy fucking stupid. That concept could have done so much better! Someone who doesn't even remember how find their way out of their own office building, or any building for that matter, is the perfect opportunity for a Scooby Doo chase gag. If they really wanted to go with the "can't walk a straight line" then the bubble should have been giving them visual directions of where to go, not audio. Suddenly robbed of glowing arrows showing them exactly where to walk, and only having the voice of the Doctor telling them verbally, would have worked perfectly, but the writing this season was so fucking shitty they couldn't even do justice to a mediocre and overdone concept.

And don't get me started on "we wanted to bring back Jack Harkness, but John Barrowman can't keep it in his pants, so here's this new character who we won't bother establishing properly".

Finished The Bear. A lot of filler episodes and no resolution to any of the story lines started this season. I’d wait until season 4 comes out because this felt more like a half season.

Yeah like, the filler episodes were good on their own terms but you can’t do so many of them when you’re doing a 10 episode season instead of 22.

So I was watching Star Trek Picard, and I considered some things about Data:
  • Has powers beyond what a human has
  • Wants to be human but his very existence is controversial
  • Has died and come back to life multiple times
  • On a team led by Patrick Stewart
Conclusion: Data is one of the X-Men

I've watched half of the final season of Umbrella Academy so far, and it's just making me sad. The whole thing feels like they had no ideas for how to wrap it up and they're scrambling to fill time - which is even worse when it's only a 6 episode season to begin with. All of the characters have done complete flips in their personalities, motivations are somewhere between arbitrary and actively nonsensical, most of the actors feel like they're totally phoning in their performances, and it's missing all of the style that made earlier seasons - especially the first one - stand out.

Unless something changes dramatically in the last three episodes I doubt I'll ever revisit anything after the season one finale ever again.

I just started rewatching from the beginning. This post makes me sad.

After how off-putting I thought season 3 was, I decided to wait for reactions before even thinking of starting season 4. From what I've heard, I'm glad I did.

The recap of the previous seasons had me actively wondering if I missed a season somewhere along the way, season 3 left such a weak impression. Was hoping season 4 would at least clear that bar and do something memorable, even if it was drowned in other nonsense.

Update: I'm working my way through episode 5 and this is damn near unwatchable. What an absolute waste of what could have been a great show.
