Convicted Felon, Racist, Rapist, and President Trump Thread

Just remember that the only issue Trump had with the 2020 pandemic was the reporting. No issues with the deaths or overloaded hospitals. Just that people accurately reported on it.

That was why he despised Fauci and why he despises the WHO. They tell people the truth, which made him look bad.

No, his proposal would keep the current phrasing but change the maximum from two to three. Obama would be eligible to run again.
The exact wording of his proposed amendment says:
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms,

Which means that only presidents who have had two NON-consecutive terms would be eligible for a third. So, unless Grover Cleveland rises from the grave, the only president eligible under these terms is Trump.

Why do they even need an amendment? If Trump wanted to run again he would and the news cycle for the next however long would be

"Trump wants to run again, can he? This constitutional lawyer says no, these historians say no, but elon musk said yes then did the worst dab anyone has ever seen. We're going to give equal coverage to both"

Then when he wins his third term no one will do anything about it. There's only laws if they're enforced and you can't enforce laws on the president apparently and even if you do they'll just sentence him to...being found guilty? Or something?

Did anyone else read far enough into the article to get to the plan to have Vance run with Trump as VP and a plan to step down and let Trump assume the presidency?
Yup, and my immediate reaction was "but the constitution says no-one ineligible to be President can be Vice-President so that's still unconstitutional". Not that Trump cares about the Constitution as shown by his EO against birthright citizenship, but if he's ignoring that why even bother with this subterfuge instead of just running for a third term anyway?

Because this isn't about subterfuge, but about normalizing the idea of just giving Trump extra terms...

You know, the only good thing about Trump is that there doesn't seem to be anyone else in their party that can actually replace / succeed him, so maybe we'll get lucky and this shit will be over once he eventually dies.

It won't. Someone more charismatic will take over and make things ten times worse. You know, a Stalin to his Lenin.
Except Lenin actually had brains.

alternate edit.

fixed that for ya.
I can deal emotionally with conniving politicians. That's been something we've been living with for a long time.
Trump, however, is a goddamn narcissistic idiot. I hate him so much. Every time he fulfils his own ego by lying about how great he is at things, vs how terrible everyone else is, I just want to see him at the business end of Drogon.
I'd love to see the day he dies become a national holiday if it weren't for the fact that his cult would probably also appreciate that for the opposite reason.

Unfortunately, the problem isn't Trump. He's a useful idiot that got popular in ways I still don't fully understand, but the danger are the architects behind him. The heritage foundation and all the people behind project 2025 is an orchestrated attack on the country with the intent to turn it into a fascist regime to further enrich the oligarchs that truly run the country.

Someone more charismatic will take over
Except that they don't have anyone that has Trump's type of charisma.

The GOP already tried to get rid of him, but couldn't, because their base is all in on him, and not the party's actual ideas.

The heritage foundation and all the people behind project 2025
The Heritage foundation has been around since the '70s, and before Trump implementing their ideas in the open has always ended with the reps losing political ground.

I didn't say it didn't take time.
Not to say that they didn't lay the foundation for Trump's takeover, but he was not their chosen candidate back in the day, and no one they actually wanted would have been able to get away with what Trump does.

Trump is basically the american dream to uneducated assholes, a guy that's rich despite the fact that he's just as dumb and openly self centred. He's teh People of Walmart President.

I was going to say this, plus he's had decades of his face and name being in front of the average person. It's part of why Reagan, and honestly to a lesser degree, Schwarzenegger, were elected as well. They weren't necessarily the best or the brightest, but the average idiot knows who they are. That can drive more votes then good policy, sadly.

"Vote Jeff Johnson. The name you know!"
