[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

Well, with the multiverse in the mcu....anything is possible.
Which effectively means that My Little Pony is canon.
I just mean I’m happy that it’s not connected to the “sacred timeline” canon and therefore can be it’s own thing and not be limited.

Some trailers I've come across that looked neat.

Turn Me On

Feels kind of like We Happy Few: The Move, but less British.

Heart Eyes

I kinda love that this comes out near Valentine's Day.

Companion
Basically M3GAN but with a sex bot. Looks like fun.

Until Dawn
(Release date: April 25, 2025)

I liked the game well enough, but I don't know if I liked it enough that I'd see this in theaters. Looks okay, though.

It doesn't look like it's anything like the game, but meh, that's fine. It's not like the original game was some revolutionary narrative.

It's leaning more into the "there are multiple ways things could have turned out" aspect and having time repeat through the night instead of just doing the original story... which is fine.

Happy Death Day meets Cabin in the Woods.
Could be fun. But it also looks very low budget which could be a waste on a half-decent concept for a horror movie as that.

Making an Until Dawn movie is so dumb when it was a game whose whole schtick was it was like a cheesy horror movie. Just making it into a horror movie is dumb.

Shush, you. If they hear this, they're gonna try and make a video game out of Hairspray.

That sounds amazing.

Also I haven't seen Megan, should I see Megan? I don't usually watch horror.
I dug it, but I'm also a horror fan. In terms of being a horror flick, it'll never rank among the nest, but it's a solid, fun time for what it is.

But yeah, if you're not a horror fan, it's hard to recommend it.

I don't hate it, but I'm not loving it either. ScarJo isn't convincing me as a special operative here (which is weird considering she literally played Black Widow) and a lot of the dialog feels clunky.

But then again, hey, dinosaurs. Allegedly more dangerous ones than the ones on Isla Nublar! Plus that new weird hybrid-ish dino looks suitably horrifying.

I think a lot of this depends on what you consider "Horror?"
Alien could be considered "Horror," but it's nothing like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Child's Play, or even Bordello of Blood*.

*The result of me asking my wife, "What's the first movie that comes to mind when I say 'Horror?'"

For me I don’t like the more modern day supernatural horror. Movies like Hereditary and Smile. I like to refer to them as “mean-spirited”, where an entity or horror prays on an innocent person or persons, and there is really no hope for them in the end. The “twist” always being that evil will win despite the efforts of the protagonists. Or there will be a heavy toll on the protagonist in the end and the movie is just littered with incidences of them being terrorized with little to no humor to relieve the tension.
There are plenty of movies like this over the decades, but this seems to be a majority of recent horror films.
I miss the days of the fun slasher and creature features, where the monsters are taken seriously but the victims’ reactions are humorous.
