Not "Good" so much as "Better". They are still most useful for taking out special infected and they are still less effective than a shotty or auto at taking out big groups. It's just that the second Rifle holds double the ammo, making shooting crowds less of a problem.Sniper Rifles... good?!

Yea. I was kinda amaze all the blood it splatter.... ALL OVER THE PLACE. It was awesome. The machete is sex.
Ooo.. what time Central? I'm in!Stalker hates your face.
BTW, tonight, I'll be setting up a HF L4D2 group specifically for those who have gotten the game or plan to to make easy contacts with hopefully reliable people to play the game with. We all know how pugging generally sucks a dicks most of the time.

Part of the crispness problem is the film filter. I had to turn it off... that helped my performance a bit.I'll be honest, the game doesn't look as crisp as the first one and reeks of consolitis. It's quite enjoyable though, despite some issues.
Unless they've changed the penetrating power from the first game, a sniper rifle is better than an automatic at taking out crowds in hallways and other choke points. A bullet from a auto can hit 2 infected, max. Bullets from shotguns and the sniper rifle have infinite penetration of zombies. If you've got them stacked multiple zombies deep (and L4D2 seems to have even larger hordes), then a sniper rifle can clear a hallway in a couple of shots (as sniper shots kill common infected in one shot, no matter where they hit). Also, infected running at you over long distances tend to end up in lines as well. I've had great results with a sniper at the finale of Dead Air.they are still less effective than a shotty or auto at taking out big groups.
The only problem with the sniper in L4D was it's inaccuracy when moving or getting bumped, and it's horribly slow recovery time from movement. Both those have been fixed. The aiming reticle never goes as large as the shotgun, like it used to. It's the same as the autos when moving now, and snaps back to small pretty quick. The sniper has always been my weapon of choice in campaign, but I could see myself using it now in versus as well, since it can now be used on the move.Sniper Rifle was more "fun" than "useful" in L4D, I can't imagine it being that much better in the sequel.

Well, I don't care about the HUD changes, but the apparent change in gun sizes is awful. The magnum pistol is just absurd. I know it's supposed to convey that it's a bigger pistol, but seems bigger than some of the tier 2 weapons. The graphical theme isn't as interesting as the first game. The characters look less realistic. The guns are HUGE and take up too much on my screen, the HUD (life bars) look like they are for the half-blind. All in all, consolitis.
So, how do i join... (tag - m******n)If you're going to get L4D2, join our group. I just created it :
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Hal4Um
Send me a PM or a Steam message and I'll let you join it. So that we don't get a crapload of non players in an open group
Once a member you can send invites to other HF peeps
Lost and most likely Zombie dinner!Ok, Steam is downloading the demo now. I've never played L4D1, so am I gonna be completely lost when I fire the game up?
I'm sure they will, they have to. Releasing it a month before L4D2 is silly though.I really hope that the mod community can transfer/convert some of the mod campaigns they made to L4D2. Dead Before Dawn looks great from what I've played and considering all the voice work and such that they put into it, it would be a shame if it was only released AFTER L4D2 came out and no one played it.
And accepted....Invite sent.
