First off, excellent Zen :)

Secondly, I really had to go back and reread that bit up there. I completely misread and somewhere got worried about stitched sweater puppies, and I was all like :Leyla::aaahhh::bush:. Me be slightly slow sometimes.

Just got done with my first day teaching. It went really great! However, it's only a 50 minutes class and I think I need to make my lectures a LOT shorter.

Congrats! Yeah, 50 minutes is a challenging amount of time to get anything meaningful done, but you'll quickly figure out how to adjust. Is it only a lecture class or is there student discussion in groups and so forth?

Whateva I want. Mainly lecture, I'm going to try and fit in some group stuff.

You might do some reading up on how to pace a lesson plan that includes more than just lecture. You'll probably figure out your own style but I found it really useful to learn some principles and then adapt them to my classroom.

Almost missed that.... kudos, espy. Be sure to show us any funny student evaluations/online profiles!

Glad to hear it went well! Everyone around me seems to be going back to school in some capacity or another. It makes me feel like I want to go back soon.

I've been in Raleigh for 3 weeks now, and it's awesome.

Met a girl yesterday, and now we have a tennis and movie "date" tomorrow night.

Oh, and the movie? Inglorious Basterds. Can't wait!

Nice, man, on both accounts :) How is it there? I'm going to be applying to Duke this fall, so I might coming to visit early next year/living there as well late next year. How are the thunderstorms?

I love Raleigh. Being a snow hater, moving here from Upstate NY is a big difference. The heat is great, and I look forward to the warm winter.

The thunderstorms have been great. Granted, late summer isn't the best time for NC storms (May+June are much, MUCH better). I can't wait to see Raleigh's big guns, with lightning and severe weather all up in this bitch.

Lemme tell you. I spent 2 months one summer in North Carolina, and we had a few thunderstorms ... I have never witnessed such powerful weather in my life. I mean, like moving. On an almost emotional level. We've had hurricanes and whatnot, but it's all wind and rain. I have never seen such beautiful lighting, or such loud thunder.

Makes me feel like a pansy, considering how weak ours is up here in comparison, and remembering that I used to be afraid of it as a kid.

Yeah; we had some Kentucky thunderstorms while I went to visit family there a couple years ago...almost holy watching it. I actually fell asleep listening to the thunder and rain, and--thanks to the dream I had--I now associate thunderstorms with huge wings; a flash of silver as the wings are raised, and thunder as they fall.

I too enjoy the thunder and the rain. I'm not sure why... but unless it's storming so bad that I can feel the house move, it just seems to relax me.

When it's storming and the power's out, it's good to snuggle under the covers! ;)

Got a three day weekend ahead! Not sure what I'm going to do, but relaxing is on it's way to me!

I am joining the pro rain & storms crowd. I LOVE watching storms. One thing I'm going to miss about my apartment after I move is getting to sit on a covered balcony 8 floors up and watch the rain fall. :(

BUT, in my own epic win: I have a job! It's not in my field, it's not even a "real" job (it's retail -- but it's one of my favorite places) but it's money, and it's something I'm excited about doing, and I have health insurance! [gasp] And I am hanging out with one of my favorite people today! It has been a good week :)

It's storming out right now. Radly. I may go lie in the mud puddle in my backyard before I shower and go to work today.
