Hearsay epic win: a friend of mine, a young lady training to become a nurse just told she saved her bus driver's life today. Apparently the driver was choking on a piece of gum, so she administered the Heimlich maneuver. Then she noticed the driver wasn't breathing, so she applied CPR and an automated external defribrillator. The driver's okay now, and she's apparently getting a certificate for her actions :)

Today is my girlfriend and mine 6 month anniversary. Kind of a big deal for a dude who hadn't dated much in high school or beyond. :)

Going out for Thai, going back to her place for a little wine and Eternal Sunshine, then having a sleepover. :) :awesome:

I ordered some prescription sunglasses made in china, for $12.95 (17.90 after shipping!). I put in my prescription myself at the website, after getting an insurance-covered eye exam. I chose the 80% tint, because Texas sun is bright :)

They arrived today, with a case and a micro-fiber cloth, and the prescription is spot on. Even though my eyes have radically different sphere corrections due to my implanted lens from cataract surgery.

yay! that's some cheap-ass sunglasses! I can't even get NON prescription sunglasses that cheap at the local Walmart.

I love it when you can get good things freaking cheap. Glasses cost way too much in my opinion.

I just got a call from my wife's new boss. She was having an issue with Excel and nobody in her office could figure it out. I talked her down from the ledge and got it done so she's very happy. Bonus brownie points for Kerri!

Mum's a professor, Dad's secured a multi-billion pound deal for Lockheed Martin, and I managed to submit my two overdue essays within the extension time.

Last week was a good week.

Got my thesis back today. Apparently there had been some misunderstanding along the way of the process, so these past few weeks it was under review by my thesis advisor. So what I got today was my thesis with suggested revisions. Nothing major, just checking some academic style and grammar issues and such. Nothing I can't get done over the weekend (it's still 130 pages, so...). After that, I need to deliver two bound copies of it to the Faculty office for review. Within a month of that, I should get my grade and my Master's Degreee.

When I asked what he thought of the thesis, the advisor said the grade "would be in the upper end of the scale". Sweet ^^

Sadly for N_R, we're unlikely to get a slice of the pie until the end of the year.

It snowed here today, about 6 inches. Doesn't sound like much to you guys that get it all the time, but it NEVER snows like this in East Texas. Never. It's totally awesome, and mostly melted and re-freezing now, but it was cool to see a peek at "real" winter around here.

Went to a wedding reception last night. Now, you'd think that as a wedding DJ I'd totally hate them, but this one promised to be a lot of fun. The groom is one of Bandstand's DJs and an old friend of mine. The DJ for the reception was the boss of Bandstand and in the crowd were at least 6 other DJs. We all danced, wore our penis-shaped balloon hats and had an absolutely GREAT time! Then I brought my drunk wife home at midnight and didn't sleep until after 2 am. I'm tired today but God damn was that worth it. What an absolutely blast of a night.

Today I got up and went to get the check from my mom & dad for the car and they added a little bit to tide us over. That tiding over will allow us to get gas & food until my wife gets paid a full paycheck next Tuesday.

All in all it's been a good weekend. Now I think I'll go play Assassin's Creed that I just downloaded from Direct2Drive for $5 thanks to the "Games on Sale" thread here.

Fuck yeah I'm in a great mood!!

I lost an entire post because I accidentally navigated away from a page!!

Long story short... Jake protected me from a creepy weirdo who broke into my parents' enclosed backyard. He got arrested, we're all safe, and my parents are getting new locks FINALLY.

We listened to the Muppet Movie soundtrack on cassette when we were kids in the car, and we had a record album with various Muppet Show songs on it (including Mr. Bassman). My brother is awesome.
