You can save the world. But

Wait. I got a better smart ass answer.

I'd sacrifice what I most cherish for a Fruitopia, so this hypothetical is a complete no-brainer

You know, I like free will. I think it's a good thing. I'd be super-pissed if I knew it would be taken away from me. I assume most people would feel the same way. That's why, even without Crone's caveat, I probably wouldn't impose my view of Utopia on people. Just because it's my idealized world doesn't mean it's everyone else's. The fact that people in this thread consider that selfish seems somewhat strange to me.
Their answer was selfish:
"I wouldn't give the world Utopia if I couldn't have my loved ones around. I prefer to choose a guiltless happiness than one of a greater worldly good."

Fair enough. 'Course, I was mostly looking at it from my own point of view, so I suppose I fall into the selfish crowd as well. ;)

I don't think I could deal with the loss of my best friends, Beer and The Internet. A world without beer and the internet... would that really be a utopia? I think not.

I suspect that I may become somewhat of a hermit later in life anyway, so it might not be all that bad. However, I still wouldn't do it, for one very important reason - I'd be taking away a few other people (Friends and loved ones) presumably against their will for everyone else's benefit. If it was just me, it'd be a simple answer, but imposing my will on them? I can't make that choice.

My definition of utopia is a mix 'n dash of common dystopias, while the thing I yearn the most is the easy anonymous life... I guess that'd make me the big brother if I used said 'key' ~_~

i would try to find a way to bend the key's power to my will and then use it only if i get to choose who lives and who doesn't.

yeah, fuck the world, i'm not killing my loved ones for some (6 000 000 000) people i don't know

The thing I cherish the most is the fact that this world is not a Utopia... so.... I guess I'd be at an impasse.

Perhaps, but I'm also fully willing to admit to it. You give me infinite power, I'm going to use it for what -I- want, not what the world needs. Of course, this is assuming there isn't an option of simply not having to take it all, which is probably what I'd do. I know what I'd do with it, so I'd do my best to avoid it.

Also, I find it hilarious that we have Shego on the "save the world" side of the equation! :D

Then you misunderstood me completely. I'm actually enjoying the fact that people in this thread are more about themselves and their personal lives than the lives of billions.

Then again, my choice would be even more selfish as I would impose a Utopia of my personal choosing as opposed to one that would be generally pleasing to everyonelse.

id let the world know I have said power to change everythign for the better, and then blackmail them into giving me what I want in hopes that I would use it.

And then i would never use it.

Well.... To be honest, I probably won't do it.

Why? cause even I do not know what is my Utopia. There are literally billions of people on this world making, creating, designing, thinking and whatever "ing" they are doing to make life even better than even I cannot imagine. Maybe the next "ing" will be my new Utopia, but what if my version of Utopia inadvertently kill off those people who may improve my life in the future?

Even suspending the laws of physics, time and even realities, it would be pretty tough to "create" your Utopia and then destroy the current world for it and give up what you cherish most.

So.... in short, no I won't do it. ;)

Yes, I'm sure I would.

But I would hem and haw over it for an extended period of time before I finally caved.

Yes I would, I'm sorry but if I had that kind of power I would do it in the blink of an eye. At the end of Watchmen I was still on Ozymandias's side. He did the right thing.
