The new World of Warcraft Faction Change service is now live. As we mentioned previously, [ http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=18031079410&sid=1 ] we’ve been in the process of developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance for a fee. After purchasing a Faction Change for a character, a player can choose any race of the opposite faction that is compatible with the character’s class. For more information on the Faction Change service, please read the FAQ, [ http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&tag=FCFAQ ] or visit the Faction Change page [ https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/faction-change-intro.html ] to get started.

Based on further community feedback, we have also decided to offer a race change service in the future. Players who choose to switch races will be able to change their race within their same faction and class. Additional details will be released at a future date.

I didn't want to transfer my tauren hunter to alliance but I think I might :/ Friggin all my friends are alliance and they are all changing faction and xfering so I think I might have to when I have money.

If all your friends are alliance and changing faction, wouldn't that mean they're turning horde, so your tauren can sit tight?

Wonder if you could race change by switching to alliance and then back to horde. Not really worth the money of couse but just out of curiousity.

Nope for now, if you change factions then change back you go back to your original race.[/QUOTE]
Incorrect:
From the FAQ:
When I change factions, can I select any race for the character?

You may select any race of the new faction provided that it is available for the character's class.

Does that mean I can use this service to change the character back to its original faction?

Absolutely; however, this will require purchasing another Faction Change.

Yes. As noted previously, though, you will only be able to select a race that is available to the character's class.

Looks like my rogue I abandoned a couple years back when Legend Knights on Sen'Jin collapsed will be getting a new lease on life as a BE.

Well it's a lot cheaper than I was expecting, that's cool. I don't have much reason to swap to Horde but once I can swap races my Warrior is going to be a Gnome for sure. :D

Now I'd pay for class change, I'd love to check out other classes @ high level without rerolling a new toon

I don't know if I would change factions or not. I can't really see myself leaving the Horde on a character level, but at the same time, the Alliance side on my server is much more active and has many more end game BoE drop items on the auction house or being advertised in trade chat and a lot more requests for PuG members for end game dungeons and raids.

Hell, I had gotten so bored/burned out on the game (ain't guild drama grand?) that I was leveling an Alliance character and after 3.2 dropped started seeing several new items on AH that would be great for my pally, but when I logged in on the Horde side, none of those items were available (or have been since, which is about a week now) and they're not faction specific items. Can't remember any of them off the top of my head, but they're plate, and they're epics.

What I wanna know though is what effect this is going to have on the current PvP imbalance. Will people who are sick of getting their butts kicked day in and day out switch factions, making the imbalance worse for those who stay? That could be fun to watch.

Both of my 80s have meaningful roles in my guild, and they're not about to switch sides since the horde community on my server is really crappy.

I am tempted to switch my 72 warrior over to try out the horde quest lines and follow the lore while having BoA gear and such, thought.

This is pretty interesting, but $30 for faction (and it doesn't include realm transfer, so +$25 if you want to move at the same time) is a bit pricey imo.

Really tempted to bring my Warlock over to the Horde side. I've missed playing him but haven't felt like leveling another.

Of course I was going to wait and level a Goblin Warlock so I could see all the "new" old world stuff. And I'd need to do a server transfer as well (pvp servers) so it would be pricey.

Decisions, decisions.

My old Human rogue is on a battle group where Alliance routinely gets pummeled in every BG. You betcha I'm gonna change.

Hey, no worries, you can just level a new character on the faction/server of your choice instead! ;)

Looking through some of my little gnome locks achievements I realized it's worth the 55$ to bring him over. I don't want to leave him behind!

I did the Warlock mounts quests on him. Got Lt. Commander. Little fun (epeen inflating things).

Though like Shego, he'll become a goblin at first chance.

In all honesty, my heart is with Horde, but being back on Horde for 2 months did nothing but remind me why I left.

It's desolate. There's little to no life what-so-ever on almost any PVE server Horde Side. End Game guilds are 1-2 to a server, the player pool is non-existant for PUG instances (the new x-server LFG should at least help with that), and the over all "better than you cause I'm a Horde" attitude that so many have is just dull.

That being said, I've used this faction change opportunity to move my Horde Enhancement Shaman (Warlord Title) to Alliance Draenei. I now have one of the few, if ONLY "Field Marshall" Draenei characters in the world.

Oh I'm aware of that, but for me Lore+End Game Raiding > PVP.

If I wanted to PVP I'd do it on a game specifically tailored for it like WAR or Team Fortress 2. On the other hand, Battlegrounds I find more than enough to satisfy any bloodlusts I get in WoW.

I stared with Horde in beta. Went Horde with release. Got to 60, went to Alliance and played there until just before Wrath was released. Then my friends decided to go back to Horde and there we've stayed. I prefer the Alliance (I love gnomes *shrug*) but I'm hoping Goblins can fill that void.

While I'm on a PVP server I find myself farting around with fishing and other nonsense more then PVPing these days. I might as well be on a PVE server anymore.
