April Fools, the necromancer, and Stienman

Here's how I recall it. April fools comes around, I'd already been created but never used but maybe for one post. Someone using an Alt named Necromancer, or maybe The Necromancer started bumping the oldest 50 polls on halfpixel.

I made a thread claiming "It's not me, you've got another necromancer among you."

Chaz replied with something along the lines of "You're both retards"

It was found out by Kris that the necromancer doing the bumping was Stienman and banned him.

There was community outrage.... or at least dismay that Stienman would be banned and we pleaded for just a slap on the wrist, and as such Stienman was allowed to return.

I still get flack to this day for that because people thought it was me.

Anyhow, that's how I remember the events, but it seems the wiki remembers differently.

Can we have consensus please?

I used the JCN alt to bump the 50 oldest polls. I don't recall ever creating or using a necromancer alt.

Espy found me out - one of the polls I bumped I accidentally signed "-Adam" and he responded "Adam, how could you?"

Several people reported JCN to Kris, who banned both JCN and stienman based on matching IP addresses. Also did an IP ban (I had to reset my DHCP from the ISP to get back on, but of course couldn't log in as stienman).

Then Kris confirmed what Espy found out in the complaint thread, that JCN was stienman, and both were permabanned.

Oh you didn't do anything, I thought it was hilarious that 1) I made the mistake and 2) you read through the thread and noticed it (by that time there were 10-20 bumped poll threads, I assumed no one would read them).

It didn't take more than an hour or two before the front page was back to normal from the efforts of others anyway, and I suspect most people just rolled their eyes at me and waited for April fools day to be over.

But it did really upset a few people. Internet is serious business after all...

Ah right, I remember all that (plus the Denbroughts). Back in the days when I didn't personally have to deal with that crap. LOL, I can't imagine perma-banning someone for that here, especially on April Fool's. Temp-ban maybe, unless it was more along the lines of an actual attack on the forums, which this obviously wasn't.

The reason I remember the necromancer alt name was being used to bump threads and such was because it was my first public post in the forum under this name to call attention to it, and to the fact that it wasn't me. I know there was a necromancer on that specific april fools that was bumping a ton of threads, not all of which were polls.

Now, In hindsight, perhaps there were two pranksters that day, one calling themselves the necromancer bumping threads, and then Stienman as JCN bumping polls, and perhaps all the blame got laid upon Stieny and that other necromancer got away unscathed?

Ah yes, there were lots of other thread bumpings as well. People were pretty anti-bumping there.

It could be that I was the user that broke the camel's back, after others had their patience tested all day long with lessor crimes against forumanity.

That's why that thing you always put at the bottom of something you write is called a SIGNATURE and there's an automatic mechanism for taking care of that for you! >_<

I remember asking Kris to let Stieney back, and I remember there was another Necromancer-related alt also doing some resurrecting, but I don't recall any other details.

I also remember the day we finally found out who the Grue was.

I've gone through a number of alts, some I've surely forgotten. Maybe I was the necromancer.

I remember it was more than just april fools day the necromancer was bumping.Was like all week.Then someone started a play by post adventure game to hunt down and kill the necromancer.With taunting in thread done by him as well.Perhaps it was just a drawcard for someone to practice DMing?
