Steam's Holiday Sale has begun! Now through January 2nd there will be daily deals, as well as ongoing sales.

Today's daily offerings:
Fear 2 $9.99
Oddworld The Oddbox $12.49 (Abe's Exoddus, Abe's Oddysee, Stranger's Wrath, Munch's Oddysee)
Deus Ex / Invisible War Bundle $2.99
Formula 1 2010 $19.99
Super Meat Boy $3.75
Portal $3.74 ($2.25 if you own HL2)
Peggle + Peggle Nights $7.99
Prince of Persia games 75%-off ($2.49 - $7.49)
Lego Batman $4.99
Battlefield Bad Company 2 $6.79
Titan Quest Gold $4.99
Fallout 3 GOTY $20.09

Bundle packs are on sale too. Collections of whole publishers as usual, but the indie packs are on sale, for $4.99

My advice, as was last year, if you want a game, check to see if it's on sale. If it isn't something crazy like 85%-off, wait to see if it will be a one-day deal, then grab it the last day of the sale if it isn't.

Telltale's deal today is 50%-off your order, but only when you gift a game in that order.

Microsoft's Games for Windows is having a Horror for the Holidays sale
Dead Rising 2 $19.99
Resident Evil 5 $14.99
STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl $4.99
Fear 2 $9.99
A Vampyre Story $9.99
Plants vs Zombies $7.49

I think I might get A Vampyre Story myself. It's not on Steam, and I already have GFW on my computer because of Batman:AA and Red Faction Guerrilla. Although, Direct2Drive and GamersGate both have it without DRM, but not on sale right now.

I wish they'd hurry up on the "A Vampyre Story" sequel. It's supposed to be the company's next game, but then they had that hit on the DS...

I have it, but only finish on PS3 :) for some reason I keep getting dizzy on the PC version.

Witcher's probably worth the $5, I'd say. I'll definitely be getting me that Winterbottom, at least.

Since my laptop stinks for most games (doesn't even run TF2 or Half-LIfe 2 very well), don't think I'll be getting TOO much this year. Sim City 4 is on for $10, which might be worth it for now until I can get a better computer (which might be soon).

An update on the Humble Indie Bundle #2. Since they're doing so well, HIB1 is being added for anyone who pays more than the average donation ($7.41 as I write this). That's World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru HD, Penumbra Overture and Samorost 2. All but the last are on Steam as well. World of Goo alone is worth the price, IMO, and I loved Samorost 2 as well. Not that the rest are slouches, I think I've heard each mentioned as the best part of the bundle.

Direct2Drive is having an Indie Sale, nothing we haven't seen before, but they are still good prices on Trine, Plants vs Zombies, Torchlight and more. If you're looking for World of Goo or Osmos, the Humble Indie Bundle is a much better option.

---------- Post added at 12:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 PM ----------

Some of the Atari games are back on sale in GOG.com's Holiday Sale, until Jan 3rd, but that doesn't include the D&D RPGs. It does include Master of Orion 1 & 2, and Outcast.

FigmentPez: Wow those are some good deals today. I might get Darksiders too (at that price hard to resist) I do have most of the others. I might have to check out alpha protocol.

Looks like Amazon.com is looking to get into the downloadable game market. They're offering 75%-off of select downloadable games. Nice prices on Ghostbusters, Chronicles of Riddick and more, but nothing we haven't seen elsewhere. Some stuff like Trine is bested elsewhere.
Heh. It is a good market for sellers. No 2nd hand market (so far, but that is another story) Steam has an acceptable DRM that most of us are willing to live with (Personally I love it and wouldn't mind if all my games are via steam)

The Humble Indie Bundle now includes OnLive keys for Braid and World of Goo. I'd be very shocked if any computer capable of running OnLive couldn't also handle World of Goo, but I know Braid has higher system requirements. It's an interesting notion, but I'm not sure I'll take them up on it.

Telltale seems to have given up on the 30 Days of Telltale thing, and decided to just put most of their digital games on sale for 50%-off through January 3rd.
