Why do so many people hate Monday’s? Is it the fact it's Monday? Or is it simple because it symbolizes the start of a new week of work/school? Would we hate Monday as much if our work/school week started on say a Wednesday?

I thought it would be pretty obvious.

I hate Tuesday on Holiday weeks because that means the days off are over, and I am back at work I am pretty sure everyone feels that way about it, that "hates monday"

I figure most people hate it because it starts the new work/school week but there are some people that have different schedules and yet I find they hate Monday's also. Is it just burned in our minds to hate it or what?

No, its the start of the week. I love monday on say, memorial day or labor day, or during a vacation.

Yup. I love Monday on a holiday.

Pretty much, just starting back after having two days off that gets to you. Monday is the worst though, cause normally you have 5 days of work for the week after the weekend. I can tolerate a Tuesday after a break since in the back of my mind I remember it's a 4 day week. Mondays before a holiday aren't so bad cause you know that it's a short week too.

I am a full advocate for four 10 hour workdays and three day weekends!

Mondays are pretty nice for me, but I'm completely useless on Mondays because my brain is still stuck in weekend mode.

A lot of people do that already. i know here there are a whole bunch of people over in the call center that were offered it over the last year and jumped on the chance and took it. Unfortunately, not being in that part of the business, I was not offered it over here in our deptartment.

I know I would personally leap at the chance were it offered.

That is something I strongly agree with.[/QUOTE]

I should mention this at my next management meeting. An optional 4 day, 10 hour workweek. If it fucks up others' schedules they can stick to a 5 day traditional workweek. It might actually save us some money in reagent costs and electricity etc...

I already tack on 12 hours total (4 hours commute) I wouldn't mind 2 more hours a day if it gave me an extra break day.

In this phallocentric culture, mondays are hated because they are the day devoted to the moon, wich symbolizes everything feminine.

My monday this week was awesome. I slept in until 1:30 in the afternoon, spent the day preparing to DM a section of a DnD campaign, and very soon I'm going to walk to my friend's house for the premiere of House.

I'm glaring at you so hard right now, the monitor is bleeding.

Hey. It makes up for last week's Monday.

8 hour shift at the food bank, then 12 hours overnight at homecare, leading into another 8 hours on Tuesday at the Food bank.

Right now, I hate mondays the most.

Get up go to school at 9:30 thru 3:00 break for an hour, go to work from 4:00 to 9:00.

I actually kind of liked mondays when I just worked at Target. It's a slow day, generally, and since my days off are random the weekend didn't mean anything special to me.

Mondays eff up my work schedule. I can't get shit done on Mondays b/c I have class + journal club + seminar speaker. That leaves me ~ 2 hrs before 5 to get stuff started/done. I have to come in on Sundays to make up for Mondays. So, Sundays are my true Mondays. I hate Mondays. So, here I am at work, and I will be here til ~ 1am.

To answer the question that everyone's already answered:

Monday* is the farthest point of the week from where I want to be.

*Since I work retail, and get only random days off, monday represents the symbolic day after my break.

Since I basically work seven days a week, monday is just an ordinary please-kill-me-day

Where's the "because everything always goes wrong on mondays" option?

It's funny how you can tell from the start of the day how the rest of the day will go - had a terrible day yesterday!

The trouble with this is that there's a good chance your wife/girlfriend/best friends etc. won't have that day off, so you can end up giving up the time you might spend with them in the evening just so that you can get an extra day off on your own.

Works for some people, but not others. I'm not sure which I would prefer.

Because Monday's suck. One of the busiest days of the week for me (Wednesday being the worst), having to catch up on two days of backlog, having duties that are performed on Monday's only that just take up time and are only "productive" in the sense that they are done, and really, they just suck.
