So, I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop... [also, anime suggestion thread]

Wanted: Someone to come over and read me the Trigun subs while I fall asleep since I was stupid and didn't find a dual audio track.

It sucks because I watched the first episode and I want to watch them all but I like being able to do other things while I'm watching a video unless I'm falling asleep.

Trigun and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood have already been suggested, so...

Planetes.

My second favorite anime ever, behind Cowboy Bebop.

Ooh, yes, there's a good 'un. Fantastic artwork, and genuinely engaging, even if it does take a couple of episodes to get used to the characters.

BERSERK. Seriously awesome. Incredibly fucking dark but never quite hopeless. The last few episodes are just jaw-dropping.

Never seen the anime, but read all the manga. Love this series.

And honestly? It's kind of fucking hopeless. Guts just doesn't give in. :p[/QUOTE]

He doesn't give in, but more than that, Guts endures. That's the thing of it - the people who act to save themselves instead of trusting in a higher power (regardless of it's source or relative goodness) have a chance to survive, all others are destroyed. Granted, it's a pretty high price for it. That's what I mean by not being hopeless. There's even hints that *incredibly minor spoiler*
Casca might get better
.

I'm a few issues behind now, though. (Last issue I read was #28) Maybe in a paycheck or two I'll get caught up.

I won't spoil it for you then, but...things take a turn for the kind of fucked up. A rather seriously fucked up turn. ;)

For Berserk, that's saying something.
It's not as viscerally fucked as
Griffith selling his soul and all of his companions (and how it went down) to the Godhand, and raping Casca just for good measure with his brand new spanking demon dong
, but on an emotional "this is how the world works" level, it's pretty out there.

I still say that Berserk is a manga version of the most badass RPG campaign ever. I mean, it kind of feels like that sometimes, doesn't it?

I'm about 3 episodes away from the end of the first season of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Man it's a good show. The dub isn't that bad either.

Not anime, but I'm also in the process of watching Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Kamen Rider Double (W). Entertaining stuff. Not nearly as thought provoking as SAC.
