With my gal pal from the wedding last Friday. They cut the cake with a samurai sword! And yes, I wish I always looked that good, too.

Concerning the wedding: as a collective group we killed the first keg of their microbew 20 minutes after they were actually hitched. There wasn't a samurai battle, but my god, there could have been.

Concerning how cute that picture is: GAW THANKS :p

My roommate seems tired. Not that he should be. HE didn't have to deal with the snoring.

I saw this infant onesie while I was at Target tonight. I had to take a picture of it because I am tempted to buy it and hang on to it in case Calleja ever has a baby girl. :D

DON'T DO IT OR I'LL HAVE TO HAVE A DAUGHTER JUST TO GET IT AAAAAAH :aaahhh:
Right next to it was a black one with the Beatles drum set emblem on it which I would assume is more for baby boys. Maybe I should get one of each so you aren't pressured to have a daughter. lol

Baby Garrafa is back.

I have so many mixed feelings right now. The doctor told me she was carrying 7 puppies, I couldn't help to cry again, even my mom got emotional about it. I'm just extremely grateful that she's safe and back home... I'm really happy for that.

She's so tired right now, she barely moves, it breaks my heart, but I will take good care of her, she'll be back to normal in no time, I'm sure.

Once again, the Medieval Market is over. But oh brother, was it awesome again. And thanks to my parents, I now have 1,700 pictures and several hours of video to remember it by. Here's a selection of pictures; I'll post video if I figure out how to put it on YouTube.

It is the Year of Our Lord 1350, and the town of Turku, a trade city of several hundred people, is in turmoil. Rumors abound when the annual St Henry's Market draws near: rumors of King Magnus Eriksson planning a war against the heathens of Novgorod, and of a strange and terrifying plague to the east and to the south.

In the absence of castellan Gerald Skytte, currently in Tallinn negotiating for better terms of trade, lieutenant castellan Jöns Knutsson (known as "the Scourge of Turku" for his ill temper and cruelty) presides with mayor Laurens Visthus at the opening ceremonies.

Representing the power of the Church is the revered and wise Bishop Hemming, here shown with the city scribe.

Among the city burghers is one Andreas Jaakkosson, the butcher.

With him, his three sons: Knuutti the youngest, Eerik the silent middle child and Algot, the eldest of the three and his father's pride and joy.

Keeping the children in line - and her husband out of the whorehouse - is Kerttu Luukasdaughter, the butcher's wife. Despite being diminutive, it's a well-known fact that while the butcher is the head of the household, it's his wife that tells that head where to look.

And when it's not the boys who need watching, it's Kerttu's mother, Elsa Olavisdaughter: the year of mourning has passed after her husband's, the salt merchant's, death and now Elsa is constantly looking for a new husband - or as Andreas puts it, "a taste of some sausage".

Among the town populace are also Erik Svarte the blacksmith and Hampus, a merchant whose lack of coin has yet to show on his plate.

The mayor's wife and housemaid: ill tongues say that the maid's months-long swelling has less to do with a prolonged case of dropsy and more with the mayor "mistaking" beds...

One of the most liked and well-respected burghers in town is innkeeper Eerik, a man of easy laughter and a troubled past. The news of a coming war are dire to him, for the memories of his youthful days and the last war against Novgorod still haunt him...

The Market also draws in people from further away: here we have the fisherman Nils Holgersson and his wife Aulikki, who apparently has a bee under her skirt. Or at least, that's what Nils keeps telling everyone...

Jugglers, clowns and fools also entertain the people, mocking both the bishop and the burghers - as long as they keep the mayor laughing. Then it's the stocks for them.

Just in time for the Market, merchants Henrik Kaukomieli and Albert Adamsson have also arrived from the high seas with a shipload full of wine, fabrics and spices - and heads full of boisterous tales of pirates and distant lands.

Of course, there is no greater danger to a sailor than a beautiful maiden, as Henrik Kaukomieli finds out as he lays eyes on Maaria, the innkeeper's daughter...

...to whom he promptly makes his intensions known...

...and swears that by the end of the day they'll be wed.

To be continued...
