Holy shit I'm excited and nervous... excivous? nervcited?

My first tattoo ever is going on my shoulder blade in a few hours. That's right, in St. Patrick's Day. Could I have gotten any better day for my appointment? No, hell no.

The tattoo artist is something of a big shot... to get an appointment you need to wait at least 3 or 4 weeks cause he's always busy, and he's won awards not only in Mexico but in tattoo competitions all over the US and Europe as well. I've seen him work for 6 hours total when he tattooed my best friend and I KNOW he's great....

but I still can't shake this tiny feeling of... "aaaah, what if he screws up the tiniest little insignificant detail!?! aaah"... cause I'm such a whiney bitch that no matter how unnoticeable the discrepancy in the design I want, It would nag me 24/7. For the rest of my life.

It's a minor concern, but it's there.... that's normal for your first tattoo, right? RIGHT?

Help me burn the hours before I leave, Halforums!!

Oh, right, the design.

Still basically that, except with a few tweaks. The first and last zebra crossing lines won't be there, and the color of the lines will be darker, possibly even degraded from back to front to give it a feeling of depth.

So it's a tattoo of some hobos traveling down the railroad?

That's a tattoo with a sense of adventure.

Uh... I think it is. Which is super cool. You should also get Rob Reiners face on your belly.

Would it be relevant and interesting or just gross if I posted the pics my friend is inevitably gonna take of me getting the tattoo done?

(The Abbey Road tattoo, the Rob Reiner one will have to wait)

Like I said before, as long as it's not in some inappropriate place, I don't think you have a choice. PICTURES, por favor, not just of the end result, but of the agony as it unfolds...

Heh, it's going on my shoulder blade, so barring my animal attraction, it should be quite SFW.

Lan' sakes, I surely hope I can contain myself. I'm in the library, after all.

The tattoo won't be done until 4pm central, I'm going out for burgers first :D

After the tattoo I'm coming back home to shower and take the plastic wrapping thing off and etc before going out to the pubs and have a merry St. Patty's, so maaaaybe I'll post the pics then. If not, I'll try to tomorrow.

Wait, you got a tattoo on St Paddy's and it's not a shamrock?

Ya blasted eejit, ya :p

Okay, okay... Looks good. But let's be honest, you're choking back tears of pain in that picture, ain't you? Ain't you? ;) Come one, fess up...

That's awesome (both the pics and Crone's shop :p). I need to save up money for a tattoo ...

So.. people with tattoos... how normal is it that after shower/lotion applying I see this little bits of black... stuff falling off. I assume it's like dead skin thing with ink, but I thought I could ask.

I was told not to shower (or at least get it wet) for a minimum of two days... But some of mine flaked off afterwards anyways and I had to get it touched up. The lotion really did help my tattoo not itch, though, which kept me from scratching and having more flake off.

Completely normal. Just don't pick at it and you'll be fine. It'll get even worse over the next few days--it is indeed the dead, damaged skin coming off. Over the next few days, you might also notice that it appears the tattoo is lighter/patchy, but if it's dark when you get out of the shower it just means it's the skin healing and is also totally normal.

It looks great, guapo :)
