Minor victory thread

This is going to sound so stupid, but I sorta flirted with a girl today. This is a win for me because a) I'm not very good at that sort of thing, and b) for the last two years I've sort of avoided relationships that haven't fallen directly into my lap as a matter of policy for the same reasons I haven't bothered to decorate my apartments/rooms: I'm planning and hoping to leave this place very soon, so why commit to something, or flirt with committing to something you'll just have to give up in short order?

Now, here I am with a definite exit date in a month and a half, and my opinion has changed to "Might as well have fun before I leave." I certainly hope it'll be fun. We're going to get together next week, and I think she was into it ...

The accordion isn't a bad idea - easy way of demonstrating you know how to work her buttons and play her squeezebox.

(also a rant) I finally finished my taxes today, but because my country of work isn't listed in the drop down box with the H&R Block website, I have to print and mail the forms in rather than e-file.

Been stressing like crazy over my Managerial Accounting course. Final exam worth 60% of my grade took place the day after I got back from Vegas. Studied my heart out for weeks but still wasn't 'feeling the mojo'. Took the exam, felt I scored a good 73% floor, with some room upwards if the instructor was feeling generous.

Just got the results back today. 95%. FUCK YEAH! Average score on the exam is 60%. Rainbows flew out my butt on that day!

Phew... Just finished preparing exams for 3rd- and 4th-grade English classes. It was more work than I thought it would be, but now they are done. All that's left to do in the morning is a helluva lot of photocopying.

Wish me luck, guys. There's a fair number of kids with learning disabilities in those classes, so I ain't gonna just lay down on my laurels and wait for time to go by...

I've got a tall glass of rum and coke, and I'm about to watch Firefly for the first time.

Let's see what all the love is about.

I loved the first episode all except for a couple things but I like the way that in one scene
Whedon took my Whedon-related expectations and made his characters laugh at me.

Firefly isn't the best show of all time, but it's a good show that had a solid first season. It had the potential to really go somewhere but it didn't get the support it needed, unfortunately. Still, though, you should enjoy it and I recommend watching Serenity once you polish off the last episode.

The friend with whom I pretty much single handedly ruined the relationship we had the Saturday before last is talking to me again. It's been a bright point in the week.

Than I guess you probably won't have it stuck in your head and if you do it will be that much more annoying for you

Remember those couple things I said I really didn't like?

The theme song is awful.
Gusto, you're all right.

For now.[/QUOTE]

To say nothing of Friends, which I maintain has the most grating theme song and lazy title of any television show EVER.
