Minor victory thread

Went to the book and literature fair today with some friends. Bought me the last collection of Donald Duck cartoons by Don Rosa (I hear he's quitting because his eyesight is failing :( ), some Renaissance music, a copy of Life on a Golden Horn - a travelogue by Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, written in 1717-1718 - and two copies of the latest Viivi & Wagner collection book. One for me, one for the girlfriend who couldn't join us; we're both fans. Plus, the cartoonist himself - Juba Tuomola - put in autographs and sketches in both. There was much "Wheeeee!" when I gave the girlfriend her copy.

W00t!!!!

This weekend was marvelous. Jake and I went to a farmer's market, and I bought some teeny eggplants and butternut squash for the week. They were also selling bags of flax and sweet dough fig pies, so I bought one of each. Had half of the little pie yesterday and half today... ohmygodsogood. I don't buy em often, but I sure enjoy em when I do. Saturday we lounged all morning talking about our dreams and what we were going to do when we quit being lazy. Got most of my work done, too, so Monday and Tuesday nights in the library before my Midterm cohort should be less hectic than I first thought.

Went out to the bar with some chums last night and my buddy brought his friend out that is unbelievably attractive. Like, 6 feet tall and model hot. I've had a crush on her since I met her while dating my last girlfriend. The only girl I know that makes me stumble and stutter over my words like I'm some 14 year old freshman. I just got to man up when I see her again next week.

Sent the scale top to her, to see how it fits before I do the straps and start on the skirt. Things seem to be coming along nicely on the project.

This "minor victory" may land me on passiveaggressivenotes.com (though I don't think it qualifies as passive), but it felt good. I taped this to my sissy bar.

I also thought about going with "Hope you enjoy head lice", but I thought that might backfire.

My septic system passed inspection. I was a little worried it wouldn't, since it's about 25 years old. Last step to me finally buying my house will be done next Thursday when I sign the papers.

I picked up the mail today to find a check from Progress Energy for $163, the cost of my deposit plus interest. I had forgot I made a deposit. Hurray for paying bills on time!

I am now officially a Cub Scout Den Leader. Uniform and everything. May God have mercy on their souls.

Cub Scouts can be more fun, because they tend to listen better to adult guidance, as compared to some of the little bastards I've led in Boy Scouts

Finally got a new phone, an LG Cosmos. It's pretty neat and I finally have a qwerty keyboard. Plus I found a way to get all sorts of awesome sounds on it. My dad's ringtone is George C. Scott's Patton (Rommel, you magnificent bastard I read your BOOK) and my brother's is Robo's Theme from Chrono Trigger, among others. I even got to edit the sound files myself, which was fun.

My talk tomorrow is apparently in the newspaper. I wasn't nervous at all before. Now the pressure's on. The society invited the federal government (congressmen and what used to be the MMS).

I'm a man, and that's awesome. Today I walked past twenty women waiting to use the ladies room while taking a toddler and a 4 year old to use the mens room in the only rest stop for the next hundred kilometers.

Argh, that's so annoying. I'm jealous. Although one time I conquered a men's room at a theater. It was during intermission, and the way the bathrooms were spaced out, it was impossible to find the ladies' rooms. The place was lousy with accessible men's rooms, so I found an empty one, and a bunch of women followed me. When I left them behind, relieved and happy, a bunch of men were standing helplessly outside. I just smiled and returned to my crappy seats. I wish I'da had a little flag with a "female" symbol on it to stick in the floor.

That sounds like a Mentos commercial.

I love it when some jackass speeds past me and then a short while later I get to drive past him pulled over getting a ticket.

ugh I feel sick but in a good way.

My work had a free lunch today and I ended up eating way to much ( 3 burgers ) but given the fact that I didn't eat breakfast (of course I never eat breakfast) and I the fact that I had a bleh morning the free lunch was good but I shouldn't have eaten that much. That being said I do not think I will be eating dinner tonight.

Gave her my phone number and said we should get together for a drink sometime. Not expecting a call, but at least I made the move.

Don't know if this is the appropriate place, but I just found out that after a bit of a scare, my girlfriend is 100% not pregnant!

I don't know man. If I were in that situation I would think that was an epic win.
