WARNING!!! This is some Gross stuff, man!

A buddy of mine wanted me to go see a movie with him called "The Human Centipede". Knowing nothing about it I said, "Sure!" Fortunately we were unable to find tickets in Omaha so we didn't go. This morning I looked the movie up and read a few reviews. Holy fucking shit!

Here's a synopsis:

German mad scientist buys a farm in the country so he can kidnap people and do bad things to them. And when I say bad things I mean BAD THINGS! But unlike your Hostels and Saws, THC's scientist/bad guy is doing this because he's insane, not because of some thrill or lesson that he's teaching. He just wants to build a Human Centipede.

To do this, he's kidnapping people and sewing their mouths to the anus of the person in front of them. Let me give you a graphic from Roger Ebert's site:

As you can see, the poor bastards in the middle eat the shit of the person in front of them and then shit into the mouths of the person behind them, and so on. The scientist was going to make it 50 people long to have 100 "legs".

Roger Ebert's review can be seen here and he refuses to even give it a star - which he's never done before.

Sick fucking movie. I'm so glad it wasn't showing in Omaha.

I am curious, but I don't think I'm curious enough.

It made a pretty big splash at Fantastic Fest here in Austin, but that audience tends to be pretty genre-film-centric, so that's not really surprising. And since it's an IFC Films release, you can see it through OnDemand no matter where you live! :D

......... glad I didn't go see it. I thought it was one of those "resident evil" mutation conversion or something.

Nope. Not going to do it this time. I will not look at the image that is spoilered and I will not search for that trailer.

I'M NOT DOING IT INTERNET.

hahahaha I heard about this movie a while ago. The reactions from people are awesome. No way I'm gonna see it, though. The hype sure is awesome though.

This is some genius writing. Good job, Ebert!

I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited to this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don't shine.

That's wonderful.

I have zero interest in this shit-fest.

Often I see horrible news on TV (Haiti being the most recent example) and feel almost nothing. It's something that frankly creeps me out and worries me: have I become numb to suffering around me? Am I turning into a sociopath? "Luckily" every so often something so rage inducing, sad or disgusting comes along that is able to show me that yes, I am still a normal person.

The trailer for this movie was one of the latter. I saw it and even despite them not SHOWING anything (and from what I heard the movie itself doesn't as well) the mere CONCEPT made me feel nauseous. Out of a sense of morbid curiosity I looked up the full plot synopsis on Wikipedia and felt EVEN WORSE. If the objective of this movie is to shock the audience then kudos, the director freaking did it.

Funny thing: recently I saw a trailer that made feel MORE offended than this one did. In fact, I felt offended before I even SAW the trailer. Just the fact that this movie will be released makes me angry. I remember already making a topic about this a while back but I'll just say it again:

WHY THE FUCK IS THIS BEING REMADE?

(I hope Ebert gives the same score to the final movie. Hey, he gave the original 0 stars)

OF, all we hear on the news is the bad stuff, so we're desensitized. Don't feel bad. We have to do that to function. Can you imagine feeling horribly sad every time you read about a tragedy on the news?

i think the metaphor presented by this movie is conceptually very hilarious for its satirical clarionpoints. I watched a trailer, and have to say it wasn't really anything worse than I've seen on /b/

Yeah, I see your point. It's just that since my parents seem to get outraged over stuff in the news more often, my perspective may be a tad skewed. Thanks for the response.

BTW, I forgot to mention. According to that Wikipedia article, they are planning on making two more sequels. The first one will have a 12 person centipede and "more twisted medical experiments". Yay.
