Okay, they are all set up for the FF tab at least. I'll have to do the WoW tab next but that may be later.

Note that all levels up until Super User & Administrator are 4 levels - Easy, Normal, Difficult and Insane.

Easy: You can see the opponent's cards and can plan accordingly. Use this to build up your deck.
Normal: You can't see the opponent's cards any more, but he's still not the best player in the world.
Difficult: Okay, here he's a total bastard. Highly aggressive, this guy is out to get you.
Insane: Not only is this guy all about the aggression, but he's got at least 1 card from the next level to help him out. Cheating git!

When you get to the top two opponents - Super User and Administrator - there is no longer an easy mode. Super User is more like a normal setting. Administrator, though? He's a jerk. And if he wins he doesn't just take 1 card - he takes all 5!!

Damn him!

And this is why I wish you could wager or have it tied to something other than post counts, etc.

Basically, there are four numbers on each card. If the number of a card you put down is larger than an adjacent number on an adjacent card, the card with the lower value gets flipped and becomes yours.

Okay, that sounds slightly complicated, so here's a diagram:

Let's say player 1 puts down this card, with a birdie on it:

Then player 2 puts down this card to the right, with the freaky gray guy:

The 8 on the left of the Gray Guy card is larger than the 4 on the right of the Bird card. Therefore, the Bird card is flipped over and now belongs to player 2.

Repeat until all the spaces on the 3 by 3 grid are filled, the player with the most cards belonging to him/her at the end is the winner.

That's the basic rule, there are other, more complicated ones, but you won't need to know them immediately.
So, wait, the left digit on the middle number on the card being put down is compared to the right digit on the other card?

What are the top & bottom numbers used for?

I'm looking at either a stable uCash system or a better but unstable vbCredits system. Either one would allow me to give money to play the game instead of relying on posts/threads.

Plus there's an interesting looking RPG thing that MAY be a lot like the Conquest system. The demo is all in Vietnamese so I haven't been able to do anything but look at screen shots.

Installing uCash right now. Wish me luck.

GAH!

Hmmm. Doesn't seem to want to integrate as it says it does.

It wants to add the 5 decimal pointsfrom uCash. Annoying.

ok so what do the cards with As on them do? In the rules it says something about same wall but that rule is not even on so do they do something else?

A = 10.

They are called walls because nothing in the NORMAL game can beat them. I can set up some games where ties go to the player placing the card so if you have a 6 and I lay down a 6 then I turn your card.

Point test.

Better. I was giving out double points for a minute there.

You still get points for posting but I can give money to users, there will be a lottery, you'll be able to STEAL POINTS FROM OTHER USERS and buy things like steal protection, user titles, etc.

Oh sweet Jesus, please do not introduce a Conquest analogue. That game ate my life.

Is there any incentive to play the tougher opponents in each level? Right now it seems to be the case that the path to getting the good cards involves playing all the easy level opponents.

You may be right about that, Piotyr. But I didn't want this to be just for the hardcore dudes. So you want to take the easy way you can. In the future (i.e. next release) the different CPU opponents will be worth differing amounts of HalBucks. So an easy opponent will get you a card but probably no money. The Insane will get you a card AND a bunch of cash.

I got an error when a CPU player played a card with the same number matched up, but each had a different "element" (one lightning bolt, one stone). It popped up an "invalid card" message box, and when I clicked "OK", I won anyway.

I can't remember what level I was playing but I got the same error earlier.

There's an elemental game where if you put a card with an element on it you get +1 per number.

I'll look at the CPU players to make sure I don't have that marked.

One thing different about the HF version of Triple Triad, compared to the FF8 version, is that in the FF8 version certain cards are unique. Therefore, if you get your hands on a powerful GF card or a character card, you can safely assume no one else will play that card against you, and thus you'll always be able to overpower your opponent with superior cards. Here, though, you end up facing cards of the same caliber, which encourages more skillful play.

Man, I want to reinstall FF8.

Huh. This was the best part about FF8, and now I can play it without all the awful filler-game.

Awesome.

If I hadn't been stupid and forgotten what Triple Triad was, I would have been saving my spacebucks, er, I mean HalBucks for a good set of FF cards. Feel pretty dumb for missing this.

Actually, since you have experience with Triple Triad, if you just play the Easy level opponents, you can work your way up the tiers in no time, even with a basic set of cards.

Null, man, what were you thinking, challenging me with cards three levels below me? :p

I didn't even have to use my Doomtrain ace in the hole.

I was thinking "Well, I've played the computer 20 times in the row, who's on?"
