Wooo! Futurama is finally back.

Two episodes tomorrow:
Rebirth
After a devastating spaceship crash, the Professor attempts to resuscitate the crew with his birth machine.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela
Leela and Zapp Brannigan find themselves stranded on an Eden-like planet.

Awesome! I didn't know that the show had been picked up for some new episodes... can't wait to see what shenanigans the crew will have in store for us :)

Any news on if the new episodes will be available for streaming from Hulu or any other legit sites? I ask because I do not have ( nor want ) cable TV and I was curious if there were legit sites for me to watch them on or if I would have to use other methods to watch them

It will likely end up being an excellent show with sub-par ratings and be canceled in a season or two.

You guys better watch early and watch often.

I'm bettin' on it being on Comedy Central's site, and hopefully on Comedy Network's site here in Canada (To be honest I haven't even checked to make sure its airing in Canada).

Where have you BEEN that you didn't know about this? I've been counting down the days and waiting impatiently for what seems like forever now.

Already seen the first episode and it is a good one, looking forward to the rest of the season :)

This just made me over-the-top excited. I need to go set my DVR immediately.

I caught up by watching all 4 seasons and all four movies shortly after classes ended, and I am now lending out my entire Futurama collection to some friends, who I'm pleased and excited to announce are quickly becoming fans of the series. Finally.

Seriously I feel like nobody understands half of what I say, because half of what I say is directly stolen from this show.

Aren't there five seasons?

Yes, and also no. Its confusing. There were 4 production seasons, but the 4th was split and aired as seasons 4 and 5. But its still sold as season 4. Then there's the 4 movies, which were also split up into 16 episodes and aired as the rest of season 5.

There were four seasons produced, but due to Fox airing things weirdly, they were shown as five seasons. The four DVD movies were also split up and aired as sixteen half-hour episodes, so some people count that as a season as well. So the current season can be the 5th, 6th, or 7th season, depending on who you ask.

As for the two episodes... I thought both were great, although the first suffered a little from having to spend the whole episode dealing with the cliffhanger from the last movie.

I thought the first episode was miles funnier than the second one. The yoddling into the planet thing had me in stitches.

*sighs* Ah, it's good to have Futurama back. I kinda dug the second one more, due to Zap freakin' Branigan. Especially the serialized pulp TV dreams he kept having. Awesome.

The final reveal for the second one was the funniest thing I've ever seen on television. Had they stopped maybe 4 reveals sooner it would have been the stupidest thing but they went with it and it turned into a whole new kind of hilarious

Overall I think they are both candidates for instant classics.

I really like the first one (even if parts seemed a bit predictable) and as far as the second one goes it was alright. It definitely had soem funny moments but I don't think it will go down as one of my favorite episodes but it was still a good episode.

Sob. DirecTV botched the guide listings, so the DVR missed the 2nd ep. Caught the first just before I had to leave for work last night.

So glad it's back. :D

Great start to the new season, it makes everything that Family Guy has been doing since it came back seem like a giant steaming load of cr@p.

Just caught the new episodes and laughed eartily several times. Bender cartwheeling away from the Cyclophage was goddamned hilarious.

My favorite part of the first one was Zapp being spit out of the stem cell machine and going "Wheeeeeee" across the floor. Killed me. Bender cartwheeling onto the ship was also hilariable. "EVERYONE ON THE PARTY SHIP!"

Favorite bit of the second was the running gag at the end w/ Zapp constantly confessing stuff.

There were a lot of great lines in those episodes, I personally loved when the disco ball came down in the professors Chamber of Understanding :)

Then there was the guys initial enthusiastic reaction to Amy's orgy idea until they looked at each other :)

I could have sworn that the music playing in the Professor's Chamber of Understanding was some Daft Punk. Probably just sounded like it, though, and with the sort clip, it'd be impossible to tell.

Also I feel I should add:

It just wouldn't be Futurama if there weren't completely unnecessary nudity.

I think the move to Comedy Central deserved a different or at least modified opening sequence, no?

Loved both episodes, though. I also couldn't help but giggle at the title of the second one... "In-a-gadda-da-Leela", I know most of you probably know this already, but in case someone doesn't... In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida is a (very, very long) song by Iron Butterfly... whose name supposedly comes from when one of the band members (the vocalist, I think?) was drugged out of his brain and tried to pronounce "In the Garden of Eden", but ended up slurring something that the rest of the band thought sounded like "In-a-gadda-da-vida". They named the song after that. Fun times.
