How to Earn HalBucks - FAQ

It has been asked several times how one earns HalBucks for the Shoppe or Gameroom. This should serve as the definitive answer.



The chart above shows what the items are that give HB and how much. I'll break them all down here.


  1. Birthday - 1000 HB. This one is moderated so that people can't change their birthday day after day to get the coin.
  2. Donate - 0 HB - This one had to be there to add or subtract donations. Otherwise you could give it away again and again without losing any.
  3. Give Reputation - 5 HB - Give someone rep whether positive or negative will get you 5 HB.
  4. Infraction - -25 HB - Get an infraction and we take 25 HB away. Per infraction point. So a 5 point infraction is 125 HB gone. That could almost buy a puppy!
  5. Poll - Post a poll and get 10 HB.
  6. Post - Post in a thread & you get 5 HB.
  7. Rate - Rate a thread 1-5 stars and get 10 HB.
  8. Rate - Rate a thread in the Arcade Talk (Daily Games specifically) and get 10 BONUS HB!
  9. Reply - If someone replies in a thread YOU made, you get 5 HB. The more popular the thread, the better off you are.
  10. Reputation - On getting rep you get points. Positive rep gives 5 points + the amount of rep received. Negative rep gives 5 points - the amount of rep.
  11. Tag - Tag a thread, get 5 HB.
  12. Thread - Start a thread and get 10 HB.
  13. Vote - Vote in a poll and get 10 HB.
Other ways to get HalBucks:

Get it donated to you.
Contests and a lottery (coming soon to a store near you).
Gamble and win in the Gameroom.
And soon: win poker tournaments.

What you can do with the HalBucks:

Buy gifts for yourself or others.
Get more PM space.
Get immunity from people messing with your User Title.
Change your User Title, name, etc.
Gamble in the Gameroom.

What can you NOT do with the HalBucks right now:

Arcade (coming)
Change avatar (coming)



I'm sure there are other things I've forgotten to answer. Just ask and I'll do it.

Ok, what does "Change Avatar" mean? Does that mean our own avatars or another persons? Dear god that could cause some internet fist fights.

When it comes in there will be the following:

1) The ability to change your own avatar. - Really, really cheap to do.
2) The ability to change someone else's avatar - Really, really expensive.
3) Avatar Immunity - Middle range price.

But that's not even that close to being yet.

It's totally grindable. You want lots of HB? Create a thread with a poll in it, max out your tags and rep until you can't rep any more.

I figured we'd get a little of that, until people realized that it's really for fun and HB have no real value. Coming soon will be the ability to steal bucks, protect yourself from stealing, etc. And there will be to new User Groups added that you can buy entry to that will allow you to steal better or protect yourself better. Things like that.

Also, the 2 RPGs that are coming will PROBABLY tie into the HB system so you can use the game to augment your board HB and the board to help you buy stuff in-game.

Tits ain't free. Plus, it keeps random people from wandering in and forces people to really want to be there to access it.

Thanks! I forgot about that!

The NSFW area is now no longer as pussified as it was. Still no child porn or things like beheading cats allowed, but if you want to post hardcore you go right ahead. Gloves are off in that area. But you gotta pay to play.

But I had threads I LIKED in there.. not even for the boobs, but for the epic conversations! It's gonna be WEEKS before we get to 2,500 with 5HBs per post :angry:

More about the NSFW area. The usage for that area was dismal at best and I seriously thought about getting rid of it. When people did start posting there it was basically in one thread. In addition, this takes the NSFW out of the What's New searches for those who do not have it. This saves any accidental clicking while at work.

Yeah, I get and agree with all that... but 2,500 seems like way too much... you could charge something like 700 HBs and still get all the same benefits, couldn't you?

Ya gotta relax there buddy. Things will get to the point, you just have to enjoy the journey. Stop focusing on the destination so much. People will get there, and getting Halbucks isn't all that hard. Shit, I'll probably get around 300 today just from posting and repping people. Just relax and people will get there.

Man oh man. You realize, Calleja, that taking away the 2500 I gave you and you still have almost a thousand. On the first day!!

I think it'll be just fine and will stop new people from coming in and spamming the NSFW area.

But feedback is always good. If I need to lower it to 1,500 I sure can.

Well, yeah, but I'm not really your average poster... I post like my life depends on it or like I don't have any at all outside this place. Working from home does that... stupid job from home.

At this pace only like me, you, Shego and Seej will be able to access it before two weeks, is what I mean. I'm with you in all the benefits of charging access, I just don't get what benefits arise from setting the price so high that a newbie posting once or twice a day would need several months to save up.

It's a first impression, mind you, for all I know we could all have 5,000 HBs by tomorrow. I was just sayin'
