If the price is to come up, it would be to pay for the clean up. But Exxon and Valero does not have to pay for the clean up, so they will not raise their prices. So since BP will need to compete with the other big dogs, they can not raise their prices. They will just have to take minor cuts to their bottom line over the next 20 years or so that it will take to clean up this spill.
