Also note: All the original cast are dead in this new series.
Oh man, I wanted to know if Sokka turned out to be a badass grandpa :( After all, his master - Piandao, was it? - hinted that he had the makings of a great swordsman.

Your mind probably (understandably) glossed over it as a topic about a sequel to the shitty M Night movie that just came out.
I haven't seen it yet, it doesn't premier in here until mid-September. But you say it's shitty? :([/QUOTE]

I was hoping to see bad ass Sokka. I mean he is a ladies man AND a great swordsman. It would have been awesome to see him in action.
I am hoping the creators will change their mind and keep some of the original character. It would be cool.

Where has anyone say for sure that they'd all be dead? It take place 70 years after the series, so Aang (now dead) would only be 83, Katara would be like 85, Sokka would be 86-87, and Toph would be 80. I'm not saying they could or should all be there, but there is a distinct possibility for them to show up considering the oldest humans in the last series were around 110 (King Bumi) and 150+ (The Guru) respectively.

Aang would've had to die years before this point even. Geez, he didn't live much past 50, did he?
I think Kora's supposed to be like 16, so he would have been 57. Not that it matters... he's probably going to play the same role to Korra that Roku played to him, so he's probably going to be showing up at least a few times.

I don't think it's natural causes then.

Intriguing.

Remember that Aang spent 100 years in that ice.

Avatar or not, that seems like it would take a lot of energy from the body itself.

I'm pretty sure I read that the creators of the original show mention that Aang was still ultimately 112 when he came out of glacier and that time took its toll on him after his fight with the Phoenix King. I'd dig for it, but I don't feel like it right now.

I just wonder if Tenzin is the last airbender - again. Meaning that by the age of 75, he's not been able to get some honey knocked up with a new generation of airbenders. It's pretty much expected of most old wise mentor characters, isn't it? That they've been too busy growing their beards and getting wise and mentory to put some buns in the oven.

Aang would probably be going "Damn son..." in his Spirit World abode.

They really need to make it clear just what makes people able to Bend and why certain cultures are only able to bend certain things. Considering the Air Nomads lived near all the other styles (and that Waterbending picked up in the Foggy Swamp with no explanation of WHY they were there and no one knew about it), it's entirely possible that it's philosophy based or mental state based... which means there could be other people out there with the potential to Airbend who simply don't know about it. If anything, the biggest obstacle for it is going to be the lack of Flying Bison to inspire people to take it up on their own, not Tenzin's reluctance to go out and find people.

I think it is more of descendant (possible theory) The original benders learn from the Spirit long ago. I figure the spirit might be the one to "bestow" the bending ability to its people.

Yes... for a while there i was afraid they would leave the fate of Air Bending and the avatar cycle up in the air... they really need to resolve that.
