First, let me say that everyone involved is relatively okay and stuff will get better.
I found out today that my sister was involved in an accident yesterday. And not just any accident. One that the cops who showed up said, "I just knew there was going to be a body and not a patient."
She and her husband were shopping at an outdoor place that sells trees and shrubbery (not too big, not too little, etc.) when she came across a pretty big pot for planting that she really wanted. she took a couple of steps towards it when she felt something against the back of her legs, pushing her.
Turns out that a couple of little old ladies were driving to the place, too. When they got there they apparently either didn't brake, hit the wrong pedal, whatever. In the end what they did was sort of run my sister over. And by sort of I mean they slowly but surely drove into her until she was pushed through a plate glass window and into the interior of the store! When they finally got stopped, my sister had already gone through the window which had shattered, and was sitting with 1 leg on top of the hood and the other was pinned between the vehicle and the base of the window - which had given way which probably saved her leg.
In the end, my sister may have a cracked pelvis (x-rays taken at the emergency room were inconclusive - she's having more tests done tomorrow) but for sure has numerous cuts on her face and arms and one really bad one on the back of her neck. How she lived through this is beyond me.
The two little old ladies are terrified, mortified and very, very shaken up. As my sister said, they probably won't drive again even if the one doesn't get her license taken away.
My sister is not losing a leg, nothing was broken, no real bad facial scarring and she wasn't crushed or decapitated. All in all she got away very, very lucky.
My niece went back to the place to get my sister the pot she had been going after. The place gave it to her for free.
So how was YOUR weekend?!? D:
