People are natural creatures. I can use my Nature knowledge to heal them. :| *nod*

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

No Heal training and half a Leader. :p Some people had better get some healing dailies for their second level feats.

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

An actual Leader, most likely high in Wisdom, would likely be trained in Heal, Insight and Perception.

This is what the group lacks.

This is unrelated, but odd: I just found out Vin Diesel is a D&D fan. Am I the only one suprised by this?

Well, how was I to know they were being serious?

Oh hey look.

It's Falagar on his DM screen. =P

------

In the game I DM, when I saw that nobody was playing a healer, I created a pacifist cleric to join the party, that I played. This way, they got the heals but no help in fighting.

You could also provide lots of healing potions. =P

Or, we could convince Julie to play and have her be a leader. :3

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

I hate DMed PCs. I'd rather Jay let us sink or swim on our merits.

I'm half a Leader; at first level I can pass temp HP to nearby allies with one attack, and I have Ardent Surge (the encounter x2 general healing a la Inspiring Word, Healing Word, etc). That'll be enough for now. Even if I went full Ardent, it wouldn't help the Wisdom situation, as it's a Charisma-based leader like Warlord and Bard.

Also, leave Julie alone. As I told Jay and thought I told others, the best chance you'll have of getting her to join is by not bringing it up. You invite her, it pushes her farther from the game. Have fun, do cool stuff like you're Falagar tavern tale, and she'll start feeling she's missing out and hopefully join in. She intends to listen, at least until her usual bedtime. So I'm asking everyone, if you want her in, don't go "Join us, Julie" or "There's room for one more". Just let it sit. That's the best chance you'll have.

And I say that as one who also wants her to play, but I know how she works. If she feels like she's being pressured to play, she may do it out of guilt, and then crumble and back out. If she's gonna play and stay playing, it's gotta be because she feels she's ready for another game.

Ain't tryin' to pressure anyone.

I'm actually kinda excited by the idea that we're more ragtag a group than normal.

I wasn't there for whenever all of that was announced or whatever, so I had no idea that she wasn't playing, and then when I found out, I had no idea why. Not trying to pressure anybody, I was just curious.

The general concensus seems to be that everyone hates DMed PCs, but in our game everyone loved the cleric I made so much that they wouldn't let me take her out of the game, haha..

Maria, Doom's PC cleric, was awesome. Her reactions to all the bloodshed and hideous monsters she had to deal with was awesome.

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

I'm glad it worked for your game, but I'd really appreciate Jay not doing that. I admit sometimes when there's an NPC along they should fight (ie: it was weird in Julie's game how this powerful deva was tagging along, but not doing anything) but to be a constant party member feels the DM trying to be player and DM at once, and I'd rather it not be that way as a constant.

We'll be okay, guys. Don't be scared :p.

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

Officially, I won't be DMing any PCs. However, you'll definitely get to travel with interesting people. All storyline driven of course. There's a start date and an end date. Or it may not even happen at all, depending on your choices.

End date as in a set number of sessions before we end?

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

End date as in, when they served their purpose in the storyline or when they simply die.

Ah. I thought you meant for the game, not the characters. That might be interesting. Haven't done anything like that in a game before.

You've done it in my game! NPCs follow you and fight as long as they think it's necessary. Or at least more of that will happen if we ever get started again.

Anyway, I think that's exactly how it should be. Like when in Shawn's game, we entered the cathedral and all the undead sprung up? I was expecting clerics to start flinging holy hell at those monsters. Alas, nothing happened. :(

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

Because they were fucking surprised.

Plus, it was our fault, so we pretty much had to clean it up and run. I liked how Shawn pretty much had to tell us the undead weren't going to stop coming so we knew to run away.

endless waves of baddies? sounds like great level grinding to me. lol

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

We were level 3 and had expended most of our powers killing our way to the door. They weren't coming in waves, it was just the six of us surrounded by dozens of non-minions. The lich bastard would've had our souls already if we stayed there. We'd all be dead like Kratash :(.

If we wanted to just level grind, we could've started killing random civilians.

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

The player decided to stop playing. Kratash continued on as part of the group until we found a lich under the city Astrazaylian. Adia taunted her to show her power and the lich turned Kratash into dust.

Jay, I'll send my finalized character sheet tonight. Only differences should be skill training, weapon choice, and possibly a language.

Hey Jay, you ever get the small changes I made from Doom?

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

Pog made and saved, macros made, I am ready to rock. :toocool:

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

Rath: Sent me the character sheet if there's any doubt. I'll revise ALL the character sheets tomorrow night to make sure we'll nice and ready.

I'm ready for the game. I've been having some fun tonight with.... your recurring villains. There's one guy though... aaaw man, he's such an asshole. Let's see if his plans will spell.... your D O O M

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

Protip: Villains only recur if I don't kill them dead dead dead dead.

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

Yeah, I noticed recurring villains had a hard time coming back in Shawn's game.

Anyway, here's the final version. Changes are:

Tyrdin is trained in Insight rather than Endurance.
He uses a Longspear now instead of a Greatsword (I like to think he hocked Lord Non's sword for expenses at some point).
He heard Primordial and understood instead of Elven. It'll make more sense for a certain feat I plan to take later (IMO) and will diversify us just a tiny bit more.

Macros adjusted--I'm all set.

I used to say this all the time, but my last team hated me killing evil characters.

Well Rusk came to avenge his brother! That's something!

I also expect that Cooper will sic a new gang on Errik eventually, once we're back in that part of the world, and Errik still owes 4 favours to mysterious interdimensional gypsies.

And Jay, the Character Builder doesn't work AT ALL on my computer, so all I have is a jpeg of my updated Character Sheet. is that ok?

D&D Jay's Game - First Session Next Thursday

Any chance you can get Doom to send the shee while you work out this issuet?

Protip: Villains only recur if I don't kill them dead dead dead dead.
Ah.... I shall enjoy surprising you. :)

I don't want you to think I'm trying to taunt myself into an early grave here, I'm just eager to start.
