D&D Jay's Game - RIP Company of Louts

Things you need to know about the way I DM and other stuffs! :

- The items you get are usually for a purpose. Sometimes it's pretty obvious why, sometimes not so much. Pay attention to the little details. Someway, somehow, that shit will be your saviour.
- Your actions will have consequences.
- Earning Gold will come easily enough so that rituals will and can be used. Rituals that are expensive (AKA cost more than 50 gold, as I previous stated, will cost half as much as long as it isn't abused).
- Magic items will come and sometimes a smart adventurer (like Shawn's last session) will reveal hidden loot caches. (you guys are 1 for 3 thus far). Do pay attention.
- I previous asked folks to also provide me their wish lists, while it may not happen the next game session, it is taken into considerations and in some ways, ignored, simply because I have grandeur plans... hehe... spoilers!
- While previous DMs tended to have that one combat and "rest" type of game, I prefer smaller scale skirmishes and dungeon crawls with traps, intrigue and most importantly, shady characters and riddles. hehe... spoilers!
- If you have any feedback, good or bad, PMs are ALWAYS welcomed. Oh... and if you have any plots, they are as well. This group requires more Simkin.

You'd think the free ritual you were given would have been used. some party members have no surges.... and this is a boss fight!
I friggin' told 'em, man. I have more surges left than I can possibly use in one encounter, if you don't count potions. I coulda spared a couple.

All the more reason for Falagar to step up his game.

To be clear: We have level 2 feats, powers, and stats, but our Current HP and Surges are not affected, correct?

D&D Jay's Game - RIP Company of Louts

I figured our surge value and total HP would increase, but our current surges and HP would stay the same, or maybe current HP would increase by the same amount as total did at level 2...?

Anyhow, my new utility, my ability to constantly create new temporary hit points, and my racial that lets me Second Wind as a minor will probably be enough to keep me alive as long as I don't get completely ganged up on. Tyrdin should focus his Ardent Surges on the others as necessary; they'll likely need it more. Assuming I don't get ganged up on. ;)

I can lift objects weighing up to 400 pounds, as I please.

I will spend the evening tossing boulders.

Get a Bag of Holding and start carrying boulders around with you. :)

Even as unintelligent as my Dragonborn Stormheart Warden is, even he eventually realized the conductivity of water, especially seawater, and started carrying around large jars full of it.

I also recommended using that ritual to share the wealth. Me, I have no way of healing other than second wind and Tyrdin. I think I might be fine as long as my rolls are not as low as they have been. I'll just have to use my skills a little bit wiser than I usually do. To be honest, I really am a bit concerned gong into this encounter.

D&D Jay's Game - RIP Company of Louts

I'm not. Not everything is about who can kill who fastest.
The quicker you get through combat scenarios the more time you have for RP. Sadly killing is the traditional route to get through combat scenarios quickly.

I ain't runnin' from these guys! This investigation has been incredibly troublesome and I'm not gonna bail on 'em now. Plus they know where Helga's husband might be. PLUS if the Simkin is with them, we might get our money back. I fully intend to roleplay this battle, and Helga would stay for ALL these reasons.

I'm not saying we have to KILL them, but some combination of Diplomacy/Intimidation/nonlethal damage would still probably be necessary. I just don't want any of us to die in the process.

Rathkor Might have a couple of new tricks in store, so be ready.

I'm going to make a suggestion.

And, bear with me, if things get overwhelming...

Set everything the fuck on fire.

Actually Doom, I had something very similar to that in mind. Think The Tempest Fighter from your game, only now he's actually trying to do it intentially instead of on accident. XD

D&D Jay's Game - RIP Company of Louts

I plan to bring to this encounter

a) the steadfastness of a Dwarven fighter;
b) the regenerative properties of a troll; and
c) the ferocity of a barbarian.

I shall bring

a) The ferocity of a Dragonborn.
b) The range of a spellcaster.
c) An intensity it hit things with sticks and set things ablaze.

And my axe!

----------------------

I shall bring:

1) The comedic relief of a spider monkey
2) The daintiness of a glass vase
3) and screaming like that of a little girl

Really, my strategy here is stay far away and fuck with their minds.

I have a decent bit of health and some surges, so if i have a means to heal byeong Second Wind, I might be fine. People with decent health and enough surges should lead the charge, and those without should stay back. We'll need to not bunch up, but still stick close enough together to help each other out if needed. And, we might need an exit strategy in case things start looking bad.

I suspect this will be our Dougan's Hole farewell show.

Next stop: Goodmead!

At least 2 of us have motivation to go there now.

D&D Jay's Game - RIP Company of Louts

Alright here's my takedown. Feel free to illustrate anything I've missed or you think should be done different:

(1) This archer, if he's the same as the archer we fought upstairs, will be a minion. Falagar, Rathkor, or possibly Tyrdin should take him out as soon as possible. Ls and Gs are as yet untested. They could be minions too but it seems less likely.

(2) Named guy who addressed us and laughed derisively at us. Helga will want to interrogate him, but will also want to hurt him. So I'll charge him straight away, and only do nonlethal to him once he becomes bloody, unless something changes or we can force a surrender or et cetera et cetera. Suffice it to say he'll be my first target and main focus.

(3) Adjacent room. Based on L3's position, it stands to reason there will be more guys in here, possibly more minions. Rathkor should consider setting himself up in such a way as to prepare an action to throw a Blazing Starfall or Dragonbreath at the 3x3 area just inside our room, possibly as early as the first round. Any reinforcements in the next room will be coming quick. Of course a lot of this is conjecture, so feel free to ignore. :)

These are just my thoughts. :)

(1) This dwarf, if it is the same we have faught before will be harder than most to take down and to feed to our master. Most likely the tank of this group of louts. Use special abilities to chain-stun it and special abilities to hurt it bad.

(2) This one looks like a minion, archer focus your abilities to take it out but make sure to shoot arrows in it's face. I think that's the most useful part of the carcass.

(3) Traitorous thiefling. I feel it may heal with its mind. Focus fire on it and make it feel the righteousness of our cause. The rest? They are paltry beings yet their limbs will serve us well enough once we rip the life out of them.

I like the idea of readying an action near that door. Reinforcements coming from that door was something i was worried about, as Jay has done that in the past. the only problem i can see is i want to save Dragon Breath for something special, and even so, Dragon Breath or Blazing Starfall would only end up hitting one guy, cuz I imagine they will be walking in one at a time, and so only one would trigger the readied action.

D&D Jay's Game - RIP Company of Louts

I've readied an action to Burning Hands a 5x5 area once at least 4 enemies had entered it.

I ended up getting like 7 of 'em. :)

Blazing Starfall is only 2x2, i doubt id even get 2.

well burst 1. my bad. meh, worth a shot i guess.

D&D Jay's Game - RIP Company of Louts

Again, up to you. Right now you could throw it at the door and hit two of them, and possibly ignite the door, which may slow down reinforcements. Or you could get last spot in the initiative order and all the planning in the world will be for shit.

It's just an idea.
