Budget ~$15,000.

I've been keeping my eye on this film... looks very good. Kind of a 28 Days Later meets War of the Worlds vibe...

Just heard about this the other day. I had no idea it was coming out this year, but it's gotten my interest.

EDIT: Trailers look good. And it's coming out the weekend I visit a friend who loves horror movies.

You didn't like The Mist??? D:

Whoa dude... I'm gonna have to re-evalute our relationship... :suspicious:

Aww. I was almost hoping this would be a revival of the television series. One that didn't suffer from sequel suck, of course.

Movie sounds interesting, though. Sort of like Evolution, only probably less yucks.

(Watches trailer) Ok, now it sounds more like Andromeda Strain meets Evolution meets Splinter.

It's just my opinion of that movie, nothing more. I just think the whole film could easily be summarized like this:

*Little town of Anywhere, USA*
- What's that mist?
- What?
- WTF?
- WTF MONSTARS!!?!!
- Let's go out. - Sure.
- WTF MONSTARS!!!??!!
- Let's do something really stupid. - Sure.
- WTF MONSTARZ??!!11??!!
- Let's go all Christian nutty. - Sure.
- WTF EXPIATION??!!!111?
- Let's kill ourselves. - Sure.
- Fuck, no more ammo for me.
- WTF IT'S OVER??!!!111?

A couple of cheap thrills, one garden variety religious nutjob and a downer ending, all wrapped in a nice little package of "Nyah nyah, we're not gonna tell you what's happening!". Call me old-fashioned, but I just enjoy movies that at least try to give some explanation, however stupid or soft sci-fi instead of just trying to make a bunch of geeks online guess what the hell just happened and why they paid $12 to see it. ;)

Sorry man, as a Lovecraft fan it (both the book and movie version) was perfect for me.

(also, they make it ridiculously clear where the mist and monsters came from in the movie, compared the book they slam the viewer over the head with it. Personally, in a movie like this, I like vague answers at best.)

Hey, I like my crazy-ass New Englander horror as much as the next guy. I just didn't get that kind of vibe from The Mist, that's all. It didn't feel like a Lovecraft movie; it felt like a bad movie adaptation about something that Stephen King wrote over a bout of diarrhea.

But like I said, that's just me. Zombie movies do vague answers quite well... The Mist seemed like it was just going "Ooh look at the weird monsters we can make with our computers and stuff!". I just didn't give two bits about the characters, which immediately dropped a huge swath of points for me. Even if it did have the sheriff from Roswell...

It looks like Giant Octopus vs Mega Shark meets The Road with some of The Blob thrown in, and a little inspiration from Jaws, Runaway Bride, and The Incredible Mr. Limpet.

Neat! I can just string titles together to create vague comparisons too. Amazing! An action-packed roller coaster thrill ride tour de force!

District 9 because it's taking real 3rd world conditions from often overlooked regions - a Shantytown in Johannesburg for disaster sites in Mexico - and using them to create an effective atmosphere for science-fiction and horror. Cloverfield because there's a big fucking mysterious monster, and a few regular people are trying to survive it.

Real vague there, yessir.
