Bwahwahwa, that's bloody great. It probably won't lead to anything, as the region this happened in is one of the more pro-taurine ones, but it's still a lovely occurrence. I hope there were no children injured.

I think it has, but it is the first time I've seen a bull climb that protection wall for the matador then jump the rail. Normally they just leap over a low railing into a crowd.

Bullfighting is banned in the Canary Islands (in effect) and in Catalonia, northeastern region, where it starts on Jan. 1 2012, iirc.

Well that's no fun. That would preclude the bugs bunny antics that were presented to me as bullfighting when I was a child. To give time to the people that base their living around this (livestock handlers, commercials, landlords, bullfighters, administration, etc.) to adapt to it.
This happens from time to time, but it usually does in smaller arenas, with smaller (a lot smaller) bulls which most times are not even being fought, just chased around and harassed by drunken guys (which should give an idea of how much smaller they are).
Also, all the Spanish forumites here are from that region, so maybe that's why you got confused AmE?
PS: I'm not glad about this, I don't think anyone is going to change opinions about bullfighting because of it)
