I'll be doing the judging the way I did the judging last year.
I take all the entries and put them into an Excel sheet, removing the author's name. Adding a column I put in a random number and then rearrange them from low to high. Then I take them starting at the top by 3 and pick the best of the three. Once I've done that to the entire list I go through and do it again.
I do that until I have about 10 or so, then I shop those around to family and friends & co-workers without names attached. Their votes decide it.
Humorous entries probably won't win, but this year I'll be making a separate category than horror - Other. The winner of that category won't win a prize but will be acknowledged.

Now everyone should discuss off-topic stuff in bite-sized sentences that start off like a story.

Here's how the voting was done.
I took each entry and put it into an Excel spreadsheet. I then put a column called Random and put in "=rand()", then ordered the sheet ascending on the random number. Then I isolated them by threes and had people pick their favorites from each triad. Once I got it down to the top 10 I showed them around and had each person tell me their top 3.
Two entries received a vote from EACH PERSON I showed them to! We talked about it and decided which one was the winner. I then went to the entries...and found out that BOTH entries were written by....
MIND DETECTIVE!!!
First place entry:
The live feed buffers then a girl drags her bloody legs across a concrete floor. With a sob I realize no ransom will save my daughter now.
Second place entry:
I'm trapped beneath a once-wall, coughing concrete dust. I hid my deeds too well. My final victim's gray eye dangles, watching as I starve.
So congrats MindDetective!

Truthfully? I don't know. I'd have to look through the entries. I didn't even look at who wrote what. In fact, I didn't even read them before judging began. I had someone copy them to a spreadsheet so I didn't know who wrote what. Let me look for your entry and I'll let you know.

Hylian, yours was one of 5 that were disqualified for being over the 140 character limit. Yours was the longest at 171 characters.
