Green Hornet

Anyone actually excited to watch this movie? I know I am!

Early reviews have been pretty positive.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing too, man. The trailer kind of underwhelmed me, but I think I might give it a theatre go.

Yeeees, I'm excited! :D I'm gonna go with Jake, and hopefully his brother and sister-in-law too!

Hell no, Seth Rogan is an absolute atrocity of an actor.
As is Jay Chou. That guy used a grand total of two expressions in Curse of the Golden Flower: poker face, and slightly different poker face.

On the other hand though, Christoph Waltz!

I can stand Rogan, he just has that everyman quality with decent comedic timing.
For Chou... I thought bad-asses did not have to act.

I hope at some point the Green Hornet learns that he is related to The Lone Ranger!

So you like Rogan because he's the Hollywood equivelant of Ron Jeremy?

Yeah, I've heard almost nothing but good things about this despite the trailer looking like crap. Looking forward to seeing it.

This might actually be good in the face of some many factors of suck. The movie itself has had an interesting history leading up to production.

Gotta say, I did not expect them to be bringing back this particular kind of character from this particular time period any time soon.

Should be interesting.

He wasn't in that movie... I was confused. I didn't know if they were just misnaming another apatow-ish movie, you know, since they're all the same, right?

The January release date of a super hero action flick told me all I needed to know about the quality of this flick months ago.

I'm gonna go see it Monday between classes.

Yeah, it's NOT a super hero action flick. It's a Charlies Angels without the awesome.

I caught it and I rather enjoyed it. It had a few really funny moments, the leads are likeable and the action was exciting. Better than it really had any right to be.

My wife and I watched it last Friday. It was funny as heck.

sure it didn't quite follow the old storyline. I just think of it as a new story line with comedy.

There never has, and never will be anything likeable about Seth Rogan.

I still dont' get what the point is of using names of something, if you're just going to create something completely different. It lessens the film in alot of ways it doesn't need to be brought down on.

Because if all the ever did was repeat the old story there would be no reason to make a new movie. It's about updating and having a fresh view of the material

Green Hornet is just The Lone Ranger set in 1930's-40's Los Angeles. He was even a great nephew of the Lone Ranger.

White Horse->Black Car
Peacemaker with Silver Bullets->Gas Gun
Indian Scout->Japanese Valet (until WWII then he turned Filipino.)

Except they don't do that. They create a movie, use a couple names here and there so they can call it "a remake" but they completely gut out the entire original content that it might as well be a completely new IP all together.

How so? Guy inherits paper from his father, fights crime in a pimped out car armed to the teeth, has an asian combat expert as a driver and is wanted by the police. They got the important stuff right.

Saw it this evening (on a date!) and we both enjoyed it. I dunno what people were expecting but it was funny, had decent action and all tied together well.

I liked it. The characters were likable, the action was decent, and the story was somewhat compelling. Not bad, all in all.

Saw it last night. I gotta say, this was a lot better than I ever expected it to be. While it's not an exact retelling and some elements were exaggerated, it's still a very funny movie that captured the spirit of the show/comics quite impressively.

It's obviously a comedy, so complaining about it not being faithful enough to the comics/old show because of the humour is rather pointless. You should have complained once Seth Rogen became involved...

For what it was it was a fine and funny film...
