The strict rule is that all khakis are now reserved for 8th graders going to a school dance, but that only applies to if you're going out on a date or something. Jeans are the in thing right now. There are tons of different jeans styles now. For more formal events it's slacks.

I still wear khakis to church, to work, on a quest for the Holy Grail, or to Thanksgiving dinner or something... I still like khaki cargo shorts.

I like me some khakis and slacks. I wouldn't be wearing jeans if my work hadn't switched from pants to jeans. Admittedly I've found returning to jeans more enjoyable than I thought it would be, but I still don't like them for walking around without shoes on.


and as for tucked/untucked, those who like tucked in shirts can go tuck themselves.

I can't stand tucking in ANY shirts. Even in a business casual enviroment at work. I find it ridiculously uncomfortable and my clothes fit very loose/just right but tucking them in just bothers me to no end.

Progress shot...

Hat is 100%.
Need a shorter zipper for the front of the jacket. Need to finish sewing down the collar, hem the bottom, add zippers to the sleeves and add lacing to the front the back of the sleeves.
Pants need belt loops, lacing all down the sides and still waiting on my belt.
Also waiting on boots and I need to add trim around the "panties" (go go bathing suit bottom!).

That white trim is a bitch. I had to make it myself since no stores had what I wanted. :( Way too much work for something so small.
Overall, I'm happy with my progress but I need to make major adjustments to the fit of the jacket after ECCC is over. Have a planned shoot for SakuraCon and I"m not happy with the weird puckering on the back of the jacket.

Go, go assless chaps!
Mostly I'm worried about con photos surfacing afterward seeing as most my coworkers (including 2 former store managers and one current for another store) and family are my facebook friends. But I've justified it in my head because it's no worse than a bathing suit. And really I'm wearing a bathing suit bottom anyway! :D

Heh, this reminds me of when someone around here insisted it's pointless to say "assless chaps" because if they weren't assless, they'd simply be pants.

Does anyone remember that?

Also, you look pretty good already, I think. If this is the "in progress" shot I'd love to see the finished product. :)

Thanks :) just finished attaching the lacing down one leg. It's tedious but looking pretty good! Not the exact cording I was looking for but it'll do. Bought more zippers yesterday and got the belt in the mail today! Time to add belt loops and finally finish these pants!

Seriously, though, it's interesting to see how cosplay goes from a collection of materials to a fantastic costume. Mad props for having the patience to see it through.
