Want to see the coolest website ever?

Okay, maybe not the coolest, but how's about being able to see any ship anywhere in the world?

But maybe you like looking at planes instead.

I know these are pretty geeky, but I'm strangely riveted to both sites.
Damn - well there's a time waster right there.

I have a keen interest in air traffic control. I even listen to the cockpit comm channel when flying when it is available.

Alas, I did not serve in the military, and when I suffered a forced career change a few years back, I was too old for the gig.

Also - on another note. Is anyone else having an issue with directly clicking links?

When I click the links above - it takes me to a HF error page that says that it no longer exists on the server.

But if I right-click & open in a new tab, its fine.

Disconnected

there's an F-load of sea vessels around vancouver.

I am enjoying the flight tracker site.

I was looking at marine traffic to see our research vessel on its way back from the shipyard at the beginning of the year, but it wasn't very specific, only destination and scheduled stops (and there were 3 ships with the same name). It's probably not that specific for every large vessel.

If ever piracy experiences a resurgence (other than off the coast of Somalia I mean), I'm sure the maritime website will be quite a useful tool for aspiring corsairs.

I was about to post the same thing. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

Heh, it shows tankers and cargo ships and yachts and passenger liners... but I don't see options for military, law enforcement or coast guard vessels... I wonder if they fall under "other" or it just doesn't show them at all?

Also, I notice the only thing north of Tokyo showing up is a lonely SAR vessel anchored off of Mito - and we all know there's at least one American aircraft carrier in the Sendai area... so I guess military vessels don't show up. So there's still that surprise awaiting buccaneers.

Are you insinuating that you are an AIR PIRATE?
Never took a plane that I didn't have permission to fly, guess I will rectify that! Boats, on the other hand, let's just say I earned the nickname. So Gasman I just may be. Damned good shot Dave, but you assume I need a website...though it seems there might be one or two of those on the internet.

Bah. It's not air piracy if they're on the ground when you take them. Call me when you have a flying carrier airship with grappling claws.

Who ever said I was going to take them while on the ground? The flying carrier airship with grappling claws sounds cool but just takes the personal touch, and exciting leap from one plane to another, out of the entire equation.
