New Picture Thread

Silver Jelly - first off, never grow that stache again; it makes you look like a TV-movie child molester. Secondly, even though it is sort of awesome that you have a portal gun, don't sexually assault yourself. Seriously. Stop what it looks like you're about to do there.

Baerdog visited me this weekend. He's still here, but due to a sudden case of the flu I had to let him go out today on his own. But, here's some pictures from yesterday, when we went out for the night.

Baerdog and me at the Book Café, enjoying a well-deserved drink... and trying to survive horrendous modern poetry while waiting for a friend's musical performance to begin.

Baer and part of our posse - a gaggle of crazy theatre and roleplayer Finns later that evening, enjoying beer and live music at Castle, a local pub.

Baer puttin' on the moves with two lovely Finnish and Estonian ladies. Originally he was a wingman for one of our group, but when the notion of him being an American came out... well, I'm pretty sure he could've gotten their numbers had we staid a little longer.

Notable occurrences of the evening and the evening before:
- Running into a lady friend of mine who insisted on showing us the phoenix tattoo she had gotten, adorning all of her back.
- Playing hackeysack.
- Getting one of the guys into the pub for free because he's Jesus - in the Easter Passion play.
- Simultaneous translation of bad modern poetry.
- Discussing bears and their use as shamanistic Viagra.
- Wondering whether Turku really was burnt down so many times because of wooden buildings or because of Trogdor the Burninator.

Also, there was Baer's Finnish Exposure:
- Finnish crepes. Tried to make them on a bad frying pan - failed, had sandwiches.
- Salmiakki, a Finnish sour candy. Didn't like.
- Finnish beer. Enjoyed it.
- Hesburger, the Finnish equivalent of MacDonald's. Apparently the giant bacon & cheese burger was good.
- Strawberry rahka. Enjoyed it.
So 3 out of 5 so far... Good enough for an Honorary Finn :p

I have still yet to meet any of you. I remain unconvinced this entire forum is not imagined. I certainly get looks of confusion when I mention it in conversation with REAL people.

ANYWAY,
I got interviewed for the Graduates edition of the college paper. This was back in March, I think. Paper came out at the end of April.

Dude that is sweet. Pistol Shrimp sounds like rad-sauce!

No comment on the radness or sauciness of it. I worked on it for eight months straight, you get too close to it, you see things others don't, and you have things you wish you had done differently. By the end of my school year, I was working 22hrs in the studio and sleeping 2hours a night on the floor, I was a wreak. So I have some negative feelings towards it for sure.

That being said, I'm still proud of how it turned out. I just don't know if its actually funny anymore. It seems to get a good reaction. My animation instructor compared making a short film to having a baby. You gestate it for almost a full year, there's lots of yelling and screaming and sometimes violence towards the end, you lose sleep and gain weight, and at the end of it, when its finished, you want to do it again. I've never had a child, but his description of working on an animated film is spot on.
