So I've been needing a new car for a while the one I had has been in two wrecks has a leak in the radiator the cadilatic converter is shot the ac has a vacuum leak and only the drivers side window works. So me and the wife were at the mall today and I said so hey... Want to go look at cars? We went to the Honda dealer in town and took a few cars for a test drive when we found the 06 Pontiac vibe. It was about 10k with 850 down and 218 a month but we plan on paying it off with our tax return. Also switched insurance from geico who wanted to charge us 200 a month to allstate for 107 a month (about 30 bucks more than old coverage amount with pos car). So boo ya! New car!

Congrats on the car.

Take care of your driving record, your insurance sounds pretty high for a used car. Pester your agent for discounts. Also pester them again every year when you renew.

I don't even have a speeding ticket on my record and only one written warning because my inspection was out by a month (and I was on the way to get it inspected damnit!) the 107 is for my 2000 camaro and the vibe, not just for the vibe

Get in good with a large company like State Farm - and after 2 years you get some ridiculously cheap insurance.

Then again I've been with the same company for 20 years.

Also pay for your insurance at 6 month intervals that is a BIG discount. Then they let you break that payment in half. I pay $100 a month basically for full coverage on a new car that MSRP's for $24k

I liked the models Pontiac was producing towards the end. The Vibe, the G6, G8, and Solstice were nice cars. I know they were just adaptations of various common GM Platforms, but I thought they were generally the best looking of the lot, compared to the Saturn or Opel or Saab variants. I'm a bit sad that there's no official Firebird / Trans Am to complement the new Camaro - though the custom ones I've seen produced have been excellent.

Imagine what they could do with a new-generation GTO muscle car. Hell, they could even do like with the G8 and reskin a Holden - like the Monaro VXR8.

Congratulations on the car.

The Pontiac Vibe is basically a re-skinned Toyota Matrix. Which makes it the most reliable GM product sold in recent history. :awesome:
