Love the red All Stars.... Anyway, ladies and gentlemen, my son who will avenge my death, Antonio Santiago, at 1 year and 3 months.

"Ah ken keel you in eighteen dif-faw-rent ways with zis crumpet. For you, I shall do number sex-teen."

"No strawberry jam? What is this weak mess?" *grins*

One from the other day, when we were standing by to deploy if things got out of hand with the WBC protests:

Nourah's computer is being wonky about pics, so I've been asked to post some of hers. :)

Nourah, holding some weird plushie, while we're taking stuff down.

Still smiling, despite just finishing working AnimeNorth. 40 hours work in 78 hours. Ouch.

Oh, man, CH, that was good! I love the sea urchin tumbleweed followed by an eagle calling. I laughed out loud. :D

Firstly, THANK YOU!

Secondly, I am so glad you recognized it was a sea urchin. So many people thought it was an anemone, and I was beginning to lose faith in people's knowledge of marine life and my ability to tell a joke (I had already used anemone once, after all)

I gotta correct you on the eagle thing though, out of my love for trivial facts regarding film. The sound is actually the sound of a Red-Tailed Hawk. The sound of a red-tailed hawk is usually used over images of bald eagles, because bald eagles, it has to be said, have a really sissy call. The main reason its so common in movies is because in the early days of sound design, sound libraries of stock audio were pretty limited. Our sound design teachers made a point of pointing out misuse/overuse of the sound, and described how, like the Wilhelm scream, its something of a recurring joke nowadays. Aside from being dubbed over bald eagles, its also used to punctuate anything "desert-y", even though red tailed hawks prefer forested areas. So I stuck it underwater to just make it even more absurd. Although I think the gag works pretty well for everyone, it really is meant to work as kind of an inside joke for filmmakers.
Someone actually recently sent in a correction to Conan about this, it was hilarious.

Interesting. I knew I'd heard that sound before in a lot of different shows/movies, but I never knew it was a red-tailed hawk. Neat. :)

I had a red tailed hawk chick take up residence on my back porch. Hearing that cry every couple of seconds for 3-4 days got really annoying.

Then people wonder why I have an indoor cat...

That red tail hawk chick was easily one or two pounds heavier than my cat.

It would have looked a little like this. Small cat, small hawk. But the hawk would have ripped her to shreds.

Even if I had a tomcat there is no way in hell I would let it out after an injured hawk. I did not even allow my German Shepherd into the back yard until the hawk could fly.

If you had an outdoor cat, you wouldn't have had to deal with the noise for long...
If there's red tailed hawk chicks in the area, it stands to reason there are also adult red tailed hawks. They're big-ass birds. They're all over the place here. If I owned a cat, I wouldn't let it walk around outside here either.

I do have to say, those rims are BOSS. Wish I could get a set over here. Unfortuantely they are probably the wrong stud pattern for my car, and even then shipping would be a nightmare.

Welcome back, Doc. Are you on leave or are you back for good? How long were you over there, anyway?

Me and my girl went to the Toronto Islands yesterday. It was, to say the least, extraordinary. We biked all over the island, from one end to the other. Only way to get there is via a ferry. Aside from three or four service vehicles (ambulance, etc), we didn't see a single vehicle all day because there's no cars on the island. Just bikes. :D It was a paradise for me.

Anyway, here's a few pics we snapped.

Spectacular! Spectacular! Spider-Nick!

And here's Nourah wi---*droooool* Uh, sorry, where was I?

Nuuuuuuude?

(We visited it briefly, but one look at a fat, old naked man with a fake tan that made him look like a bloated carrot and we left.)

Nuuuuude! :D

Web-swinging!

Hangin' around.

An amazing shot of the city.
