[Webcomic] PVP Discussion

Why? He didn't do it; he was just why it necessitated being done.
You've got it backwards. Straub was the one who put the old forums in the state it was in. He was the one who pulled the trigger. Scott was just the one out in the open taking all the heat while Straub did the deed.

None of which has any further relevance to this thread.

I think they are both quality individuals. Scott just has to learn to filter his thoughts before they leak out into the wild. I admire and respect both of them and it's always bothered me of the personal level of the dialogue.

I feel a bit sorry for webcomic artists like Scott. If you look at comic artists in the past, and artists ingeneral, very few had to deal with the criticism so publicly. It's a world of quick and public feedback now.

I honestly don't know why he would want to respond to any criticism over twitter. It seems like it would do him good to just ignore the good and bad criticism and do what he thinks best. He owes us nothing as fans other than to do what inspires him as an artist. All the rest will hopefully follow.

He did it with Scott's okay.

I was under the impression everyone understood why Straub needed to kill that version of the forums--either it went, or everything went. Which would mean losing the forums anyway. The problem was that that was to be the end of it--no low end version to come, and Kurtz's needlessly tactless approach to the situation of "you guys can find somewhere else to discuss Twilight; I don't need a forum". I thought everyone stood why it had to happen and had been pissed at how it happened. Even then, that was a while ago. I've been over it. I thought others were too and the criticism of PVP was for PVP's faltering since the wedding arc ended, not Scott as an individual

And how many times did comic artists have to deal with nicknames like kuntz? Sorry, but that seems incredibly childish and bitter.
I thought "Steve Kuntz" came from some con that wanted Scott to appear and hadn't bothered to even get his name right. I remember the reply is where "pioneer and tastemaker" began.

I really don't care where it comes from, its a horrible name and I'm sure wasn't made in friendly jest.

They made a mistake; he turned it into a joke. Maybe people shouldn't be calling him that out of spite, but no one would've known about it had he not publicized it, so I can't imagine he was surprised that it spread from his own news post.

He tried to make light of a crappy situation. He probably didn't think it would be fodder for those that dislike him. He's a human being like anyone else. You really think he likes being called kuntz out of spite?

I didn't defend it; I just pointed out that he started it. Like tastemaker and pioneer in his field.

Actually, I don't think you recall what I'm talking about. It was the Email from the con he wasn't even interested it, and then his big public response making fun of them and talking about how he wouldn't go to them even if they paid his way because of something they did to a cartoonist friend of his. It was a boast news post, not him going "Aw shucks, they called me Kuntz." I get the sense that Kurtz cares less than his emotions make apparent.

Again, not defending people doing it--but he couldn't be surprised after making a show out of the Email where it happened.

If Straub made any mistake it was agreeing to host the PVP forum on Halfpixel at all. Straub's never been big on forums, much less the band of hooligans associated with PVP whom Kurtz himself was then largely ignoring. It shouldn't have been up to him to police that shit in the first place.

He just needed Joe Keating. He knew how to make us behave, and then thank him for it.
Well, technically, and this goes for any forum, if you don't have any mods things are going to get crazy. The reality is if one wants a forum and intends to keep it around for awhile you need to have a basic authority/rule structure to run the place. That was, in my opinion, one of the major problems with ye old forums.

But anyway, old history is very, very, old. Lets talk about todays PVP. Alright.
Since there isn't a PVP up yet so lets talk about Kris and Scotts Blamimation DVD up for sale. Folks, this stuff is GOLD. Every time I watch this it makes me wish these guys worked together on more stuff.

Did you pay into the Kickstarter drive for the new Kris and Scott Show?

By time I heard about it the funding on kickstarter was already closed up. Which sucks because they have some really sweet packages on there. At the very least I would have liked the signed DVD, but I guess I'll still be able to buy one from them when it comes out. These two are really good together and are worth supporting.

I donated enough for the signed DVD, soundtrack download, and shipping to Canada. :) Can't wait for it, the pilot was hilarious.

On one of the bases here there is a road that is Kuntz Ave. which leads to Kuntz Gate. I think of PvP whenever I drive past it.
