Games on SALE!

Bioshock 2 is a money grab.

Great graphics, stable game, decent gameplay. Extremely easy to play even on the hardest setting. Less than 10 hours of play. Linear. Lack of decent storyline. 1st was better but System Shock 2 did it best.

Picked up Magicka for the wife and I, hoping that Terraria goes on sale this week too.
Let me know if you get it. I got it awhile back, haven't played it much since the online option is a bit... limiting.

I got Fallout: New Vegas for the PS3 for 10bucks at Best Buy yesterday. Not sure how long they will keep it there.

I bought Bully over Doom 3 with the last $5 on my rebate gift card. Kinda wish I hadn't now. Controls suck and it's not recognizing my Logitech Rumblepad.

Fallout: New Vegas has a lot of drawbacks for PS3. Even for 10 bucks. It seems to lock up a ton, which is absolutely inexcusable for a console game.

You pick a class, run around, and kill zombies in waves. Eventually, you kill the patriarch.

It's worth it if you can play with friends. It features a level system that can make it difficult to play with them, depending on them and their levels.

^^^^
Not really.

Anyways, the game features a squad based online coop concept where you fight off increasingly difficult hordes of mutants. On the final wave you fight off the “patriarch” who’s serious on the BOSS like level.

As you collect kills and survive rounds you earn cash to buy more ammunition and better gear to help you survive the next round. There are different classes but the changes are superficial as everyone can be a medic (albeit heal 20 HP by default) or be able to weld doors shut (albeit 20% as good as the class made for it). As you progress in your class, the game curves towards a certain RPG aspect of it where you’ll automatically LEVEL your “perk” to be better in your job… “10% more ammo in your clip”, 5% faster” “10% better healing” etc…

Highlights are seeing your team scramble as half the party is dead trying to take down the last 100 mutants or so. It’s a good game and when you play with a good team it can be a lot of fun.

For the price offered today…. it’ll cost you less money if you had to go out and buy some toothpaste. I’ve been playing this game on and off the better part of the last 2+ years with at least 300 hours in it.

If you buy the game, let me know folks, I’ll gladly play coop with you.

I seen it on some of your wish lists!

Yeah really. It depends on your friends, of course. Mine refused to go down to a level I could play at, so playing with them was TPKs all around. Since I bought it to play with friends, I wasn't going to play with strangers or by myself just to be able to have fun with friends..

Problem with my friends? Sure. Problem with the game? Also sure, since I could play with people who were more experienced with l4d and still be able to contribute.

Since Dave has people to play, who might be willing to go down to beginner so he could get to a high enough level to do normal, with from the sounds of it, I doubt he'll have my problem.

What level were they playing at? Suicide? Hell on Earth?

And yeah, bad friends can make your experience pretty sour pretty quickly. Oddly enough, PUGGING in Killing Floor was a million times less frustrating than trying to do it in L4D simply because the culture of the gamers playing this game is so different.

Coming from a lot of hours in L4D, it is a totally different type of playstyle. You have limited ammo AND you can't shove them away like you can in L4D. There is a lot of running (which is a different tactic) and defense point.

It is a lot of fun.

I'm not surprised, considering the games play quite differently.

Left 4 Dead: Map memorization, evasion skills, and the speed you can move at are the three most important skills. Every second your not advancing is another second the Director/Infected Team has to attack you. Every map has 1 or 2 ways to do it that are better than any other method. You make a mistake, your entire team pays for it. This cultivates a mindset where you can't tolerate people who don't know what they are doing because it can get everyone else killed. Ironically, this attitude is perfectly exemplified by Bill and other survivors in the comics, not to mention other Zombie media.

I've only seen videos of Killing Floor (At this price, I may just buy it now to play when I inevitably replace my video card), but it seems much more tactical and more about making sure you have people covering all the angles. I could see why it's player base is more forgiving; there's less to learn and a single mistake probably won't wipe your team. It's less All or Nothing.

there is a lot of team playing (at least random games I join) and it is a lot of fun and frustrating at the same time. The frustration is more of a personal level. I go like, if I just did "this" instead of "that" I could have not let the team down. The Patriarch is a VERY serious boss and can wreak havoc if you have no clue what you are doing.

If I remember the difficulties correctly, Hard or Suicide. Occasionally they would "compromise", and play on Normal, but the guys would just dick around and not try, using it more as an excuse to find glitches than actually help me get leveled up. Wiping was extremely common. Most of my perks were levels 0 or 1.

I'm willing to give the game a second chance since I know my negative experiences were entirely their fault, but with my computer not working anymore, can't. =/

As an aside, I don't play games with these guys anymore.

If you guys are inclined, I'd be up to play some tonight.

I'll admit that normal is incredibly boring and Hard isn't really all that hard.... especially on a decent team. Hard people with low perks a real feeling of danger and it should but you learn to play better when playing on harder levels. I've played and won with players with low perks as long as they did their jobs and helped out we did fine.

At worst I'd play my weaker perks, who are anywhere around 2-4.

LVL 6 Medic, Commando and Support.

Bomb? I dunno about the population numbers but it's easily the best MMO I've ever played.

Also with more and more people leaving WoW out of boredom, RIFT is definitely the place to go. It has all the best qualities of EQ, FFXI, WoW, Tabula Rasa and a ton of other great features.

You know what, I think I mistakened the name Rift to whatever was the shitty online shooter on a boat in a post-apoliptic world.
