[Webcomic] PVP Discussion

He's been gay for a long time - they just never came right out & said it before.

And I don't think Scott is at the level of Funky Cancerbean yet.
Not. Even Close.

It'd take two miscarriages, a death or three, and maybe even some incest to get there.

If this storyline doesn't turn out to be badly handled/cut short, I won't eat my hat, but I may take a nibble or two.

It would've been great if Scott had done a week-long storyline to parody the CAD miscarriage story.

I remember back when that giant CAD thread existed and Scott was contributing and joking along with us about how terrible it was, and everyone was posting parody strips of Ethan and everything. What good times.

Damn yo, I haven't thought about that thread in ages. That was some whacked-out shit.

Ha! Fruit Market! Cause they're gay! That's so witty!
You know, I never even made that connection. I'm not sure it was intentional. That's way subtle for Scott.

Never mind. I didn't know it was addressed in today's comic. I thought there might have been a sign or something in yesterday's.

See, THAT would have been subtle. Today's? Not so much.

I hope Max likes not having sex. If I was in a relationship and the S/O starts babbling about me not being the boyfriend... that would pretty much end things.

They're a little kinky and they enjoy public humiliation and unwittingly involving Max's employees into their sex life. It started when he moved them to Seattle. Later they'll "out" themselves to rest of the cast individually, and make them promise not to tell anyone. After each outing they go home and have nuclear hot sex, and high five each other afterwards for such a well executed deception. Later Max will shut down pvp and begin the cycle again with the staff at one of his dozens of other internet businesses scattered across America.

The most impressive part is that Max can maintain a straight face while saying things like, " Oh man why did this have to happen in a fruit market."

That.
Also, the punchline is made even lamer by the fact you can't even see a fruit market in that strip. They could be on planet Mars.

The fruit was seen on the previous day's strip, which is why I thought Scott was being abnormally subtle.

Maybe not enough of us think of gays as "fruity" for the joke to work.
Well, I think you just have to know that "fruit" is used to refer to gay people sometime to get the "joke". Puns are terrible on their own merit. No need to read more into it than awful word play. Knowing Scott's politics (as little as I do), he is probably not the type to really degrade gay people in that way.

I know it's a thing, I just never would have put them being in the market by a fruit stand together with the "fruity=gay" joke I guess. It's very subtle since it's not a super common usage. Doesn't make it a bad gag, just a little obscure methinks.

It would have been subtle had it not been the punchline for today's strip.
Yeah, I was referring more to yesterdays, today he made sure we got it, although to be honest it took me a second to realize what he was referring to.

I liked today's comic. What I didn't care for was the blog post that has nothing to do with anything but Scott going into greater detail using his bully pulpit about a "Twitter fight" he got into.

As he advertises his WoW joke shirt just below.

Actually, he's being totally true to what he believes in with regard to the t-shirt and the blog post. Now, if someone else did the same thing based on his t-shirt design and he got mad...well, that would be hypocritical. But he's saying that making and selling shirts based on other stuff is perfectly fine. Do I agree with the message or the t-shirt design he's peddling? No way, Jose! But at least he's being true to his ideals and being consistent about what he's doing and saying.

Heehee, Tae Bo. Thirded to reminding me of school. When our coaches were sick of looking at us, she'd make us look at Billy Blanks and his tight, tight shirts.

We always stuck to the basics: baseball, football, soccer, weight-lifting, etc. Tae bo was around, but no one ever did it in school. I'm only 29!
