Been going to a few doctors all week, and found out I've got some sort of kidney disease. Got a biopsy Monday. Not looking forward to it, let me tell ya.

Happened on it completely accidentally, too. I tried a blood pressure machine for kicks, found out it was way too high, and one thing led to another. Kidneys got a problem, but I don't know how bad yet. Wish me luck.

Damn dude, I'm sorry to hear that :(
You take care of yourself and keep us updated/let us know if you need anything.

I've been feeling good, and my numbers have at least been stable, so this might not be too bad. There is damage to the kidneys, though - but it might not be too bad. Fingers crossed.

My nurse mangled my arm when drawing blood - if you can't fill a single vial in about 2 solid minutes, you'd think you'd try again, right?

Then the chart mix-up. My doc was great. Procedure was done in ten minutes, but I did feel the second "punch" a bit when they drew one of the samples.

Lunch after was good, though. Bed was nice. Day SUCKED HARD.

Got my preliminary results - I've in the bad end of the IGA spectrum. It's treatable, but we're moving quickly - dialysis and a transplant is a real possibility. Damn. My doc said he was confident we could get this in remission - it usually responds. Just kinda floored right now.

Maybe I shoulda taken that kidney they were gonna give me yesterday, huh? :(

Found out I need to take IVs of my steroid three times a month - three days in a row - did the first one today. Not too bad. Nowhere near as bad the biopsy. Took about 45 minutes.

I'm glad you found out what was going on. That at least can be comforting. Hope you're feeling well.

I am feeling good. I was apparently born with this, but it only really fired up recently - it's from an autoimmune condition that affects only the kidneys. I was oblivious for 27 years about this, so I don't really feel any different or sick, if you know what I mean. But, I'm told these treatments work very often, so I'm pretty confident, too. Got another steroid IV drip today and tomorrow. Was (comically) a little wired from the drip last night, but that's about as bad as it's been with that. Biopsy was the worst part so far. DO NOT WANT AGAIN.

Biopsies suck. I've never had one but I've seen them done and it's not anything I'd ever want to experience. You are the man and I'm glad you're okay.

Interesting quirk - the IV I'm taking is giving me aggressive, relentless hiccups. Nothing dangerous, but it's a curiosity.

And thanks for the support, guys. I haven't said it yet, but it means a lot.

Update - got some numbers from the biopsy - about 67% scarring on my filters, and 25% atrophy. Not game over, but not a fun fight ahead. Crossing my fingers that the blood and urine tests come back with some good news tomorrow.

I just want you to know, man, that if it comes down to it, if you need a new kidney, then, well... you can't have mine.

But, knowing that, it will narrow down the search, and put you one step closer. In the mean time, I'll be thinking about ya.

I second that. but if you ever need bone marrow I'm on the donor list!

Some GOOD NEWS today. Improvement in some of the most important numbers - seems that, at least right now, the treatment is having some effect.
